This role leads the royalty accounting team (OEM accounting) and project accounting, and will help implement our capitalized software processes. It also prepares and analyzes key accounting areas including revenue and related accounts, capitalized software, leases, and PP&E while ensuring adherence to US GAAP and SEC requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, communication, and people leadership skills, Big 4 or public accounting experience, and the ability to navigate non-routine transactions in a fast-paced environment. This role sits hybrid in our Denver, CO office.\nKey Responsibilities\nOversee royalty accounting for OEM agreements, including contract review, royalty reporting and reconciliations, accruals, and revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606\nManage and oversee the royalty accountants supporting OEM accounting, including work allocation, review of royalty calculations and journal entries, month-end close deliverables, and coaching and development\nManage and oversee project accounting for implementation projects, including project setup, cost and revenue tracking, billing and milestone review, forecast-to-actual analysis, and project close-out\nPartner with project managers and FP&A on implementation project financials, contract terms, and reporting\nHelp implement capitalized software processes, including defining policies and controls, establishing project tracking and time capture, and coordinating with Engineering and Product on eligible costs\nPrepare and maintain quarterly capitalized software analyses for new products, major upgrades, and enhancements\nAssist with the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and related disclosures\nIdentify, research, interpret, and document accounting conclusions on complex and non-routine transactions, including revenue recognition, segment reporting, goodwill and long-lived asset impairment, capitalized software, leases, business combinations, and stock-based compensation\nReview and summarize customer contracts for revenue recognition implications\nMaintain monthly capitalized sales commission analyses and prepare related journal entries\nSupport quarterly and annual audits, partnering with internal and external auditors\nStay current on emerging US GAAP and SEC standards and assess impact to the business\nSupport ad hoc and special projects as needed\nBasic Qualifications\n5-6+ years of relevant accounting experience\nExperience in software and/or SaaS industries, including revenue recognition (ASC 606)\nStrong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements\nAbility to navigate complex accounting issues and develop clear recommendations\nStrong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills\nHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment\nExperience leading, mentoring, or supervising accountants, with the ability to review work and develop staff\nExperience working within Oracle ERP systems\nPreferred Qualifications\nActive CPA license\nExperience with project accounting, royalty or licensing accounting, and implementing or supporting capitalized software (ASC 350-40) processes\nExperience with a Big 4 or regional public accounting firm\nAbout Jeppesen ForeFlight:\nJeppesen ForeFlight is a leading provider of innovative aviation software solutions, serving the Commercial, Business, Military, and General Aviation sectors globally.
