You will lead the migration of a legacy on-premise data warehouse (Sybase IQ) to a modern AWS-based architecture, designing and building both real-time and batch data pipelines. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering: you will shape the target architecture, guide the team, and deliver the solution end to end. This is not a purely advisory position.\nThis is a long-term contract position in a highly regulated banking environment, working fully onsite.\nResponsibilities\nLead the migration of a legacy data warehouse (Sybase IQ) to an AWS-based data platform.\n\nDesign and implement the target architecture built on Amazon S3 and Amazon Athena.\n\nBuild real-time data processing using AWS Lambda in Python.\n\nDevelop and run batch processing workloads with AWS Glue.\n\nPlan and execute the data migration, including schema conversion, data validation, and source-to-target reconciliation.\n\nProvide technical leadership to the data engineering team: set engineering standards, review code, and mentor engineers.\n\nWork closely with architects and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data solutions.\n\nEnsure data quality, security, and compliance in a regulated financial-services environment.\n\nProduce technical documentation: solution designs, data flows, and operating guidelines.\n\nWork Conditions\nStart Date: Mid-November\n\nLocation: Prague\n\nLong-term contract-based role\n\nContact with EU LLC\n\nRequirements\n5+ years' experience in Data Engineering, including a lead or senior technical role.\n\nProven hands-on experience building data platforms on AWS in enterprise environments, with verifiable project references.\n\nStrong experience with Amazon S3 and Amazon Athena as the core of a data lake / analytics architecture.\n\nHands-on experience developing real-time processing with AWS Lambda in Python.\n\nPractical experience building batch processing pipelines with AWS Glue.\n\nExperience with data warehouse migration projects (on-premise to cloud).\n\nStrong Python and SQL skills.\n\nAbility to lead the technical discussions and make decisions about the solution and design.\n\nHave a consultancy mindset → always try to find a solution for the client\n\nExcellent English, written and spoken.\n\nWillingness to work fully onsite and to be occasionally flexible with working hours.\n\nTechnical Requirements\nMandatory\nAWS: S3, Athena\n\nAWS Lambda (Python) for
