Join us in shaping the next generation of our video platform through innovation, scalability, and engineering excellence.\nAbout the Team:\nJoin the team responsible for delivering world-class video playback experiences to millions of users across Desktop, Mobile Web, Smart TVs, and emerging connected devices. You'll build the backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities that enable seamless SDK integration, configuration, lifecycle management, and adoption across diverse client platforms. Working closely with the broader Player engineering teams, you'll help shape the architecture and technology that powers the next generation of video playback at JioHotstar, serving millions of users every day.\nKey responsibilities\nOwn the end-to-end development of backend capabilities that enable the migration of the existing video player into a scalable, extensible SDK\nDesign and implement robust APIs, services, and platform components that support SDK integration, configuration, lifecycle management, and adoption\nDevelop scalable, reliable solutions for supporting player functionality across multiple client platforms and device ecosystems\nCollaborate closely with Player engineers, product managers, and platform teams to define requirements, architecture, and migration strategies\nBuild monitoring, observability, and operational frameworks to ensure the reliability, performance, and health of SDK-enabled player services\nOptimize backend workflows and services for performance, scalability, cost, and latency while maintaining high reliability standards\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing through documentation and technical discussions\nDrive continuous improvement through profiling, monitoring, architecture evolution, and iterative optimization of the platform\nSkills and attributes for success:\n4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong experience building backend services and production-grade systems\nExpert-level proficiency in at least one of: Python, or C++ with strong software engineering fundamentals\nHands-on experience designing, building, and operating scalable backend services and APIs in production environments\nSolid understanding of video playback technologies, including streaming protocols, player architecture, and client-server interactions, or a strong willingness to learn and develop expertise in these areas\nExperience with large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)\nProficiency with backend engineering technologies such as REST/gRPC APIs, databases, caching, messaging systems, and observability frameworks\nExperience building platforms or SDK-enabling services that support multiple clients, platforms, or product integrations\nUnderstanding of performance, scalability, reliability, and operational considerations when building high-traffic services\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges\nStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and platform\nteams\nPreferred education and experience:\nBachelors/master's in computer science or a related field with 4 to 7 years of professional experience\nBE/B.Tech in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
