You won’t simply be preparing accounts and passing them on. As you develop, you’ll be encouraged to speak directly with clients, deal with queries, take greater ownership of jobs and understand the businesses behind the numbers.\nYou’ll work with clients across a range of sectors, with a strong presence in construction, property and owner-managed businesses. Many of our clients have worked with us for a long time, so relationships matter.\nThe team uses cloud-based technology and is always looking for better, more efficient ways of working. If you have ideas about systems, processes or how we can improve the way we look after clients, they’ll be listened to.\nAs a Semi-Senior Accountant, you’ll work across a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients.\nResponsibilities:\nPreparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships\n\nPreparing corporation tax returns\n\nPreparing personal tax returns\n\nPreparing and reviewing VAT returns, depending on experience\n\nPreparing management accounts\n\nCompleting accounts and tax work from client records through to draft stage\n\nIdentifying queries and communicating directly with clients to resolve them\n\nCarrying out bookkeeping and accounting adjustments where required\n\nReviewing bookkeeping records before accounts preparation\n\nHelping clients with Xero and other cloud accounting software\n\nLiaising with HMRC and Companies House where required\n\nKeeping clear records, notes and actions within our practice management system\n\nManaging your own workload and deadlines\n\nSupporting junior and trainee team members as your experience develops\n\nWorking closely with Client Managers and Directors on more complex assignments\n\nExperience:\nAAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, recently qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience\n\nExperienced in preparing year-end accounts within an accountancy practice\n\nComfortable preparing corporation tax returns and personal tax returns\n\nFamiliar with VAT and bookkeeping\n\nComfortable dealing directly with clients\n\nOrganised and able to manage deadlines\n\nKeen to continue developing technically\n\nPositive, team-focused and willing to help others\n\nComfortable with Xero and cloud accounting technology\n\nExperience with Dext, Syft, Apron, Engager and TaxCalc would be useful, but it is not essential.
