Tailor offerings to client needs, leading proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure.\nThe BDM will be selling complex Electrical & Automation engineering, integration, and lifecycle services (design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance).\n\n QUALIFICATIONS:\nMatric (Grade 12)\nNational Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic Engineering\nRegistered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer/Technologist (Advantageous)\nRequirements\n EXPERIENCE\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in technical business development or sales within the EC&I / automation sector.\nProven track record of winning EC&I packages for water and wastewater, industrial, energy, or process plants (EPC/M, EPCM, or direct- to-end-client).\nStrong existing network within the said sectors/industries\nStrong technical understanding of LV/MV switch-gear, MCCs, PLC/SCADA, DCS, instrumentation, and ATEX/IECEx environments.\nCommercial acumen - able to structure framework agreements, various construction contracts, and joint ventures.\nExcellent presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.\nSelf-starter, able to work autonomously while collaborating with technical teams.\nStrong ability to compile technical proposals and papers.\nProven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets.\nProficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.\n\nKNOWLEDGE:\nConsultative & Outcome-Based Selling: Experience converting complex technical solutions into compelling business value propositions.\nMarket Analysis & Strategy: Capability to perform market research, competitor bench-marking, SWOT analysis, and segment targeting\nFinancial Acumen: Readiness to manage budgets, pricing strategies, cost-benefit modelling, ROI projections, and contract financials.\n Contract Negotiation & CRM: Strong negotiation techniques and proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to manage pipelines and account strategy.\nTechnical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical and automation systems, construction processes, and industry standards. Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into business solutions.\nCOMPETENCIES:\nStrategic Planning: Developing and implementing project management strategies, frameworks and methodologies.\nLeadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.\nCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, negotiation and presentation skills.\nAnalytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills.\nDecision-Making: Address complexity under pressure; employ structured troubleshooting.\nNetworking Abilities: Established network within the industry, including relationships with contractors, consultants, and end-users.\nAdaptability: Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and client needs.
