Customs Entry Clerk

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customs entries for predominantly seafreight imports, with additional airfreight shipments, ensuring all documentation and regulatory requirements are met and shipments are cleared efficiently.

Duties:

• Prepare, process and submit customs entries for imported shipments.
• Coordinate the customs clearance of predominantly seafreight imports, as well as airfreight shipments.
• Ensure all customs declarations and supporting documentation are accurate and complete.
• Ensure compliance with South African customs legislation and relevant import regulations.
• Apply knowledge of NRCS requirements, Consumer Commission regulations and police stops when managing import clearances.
• Utilise ACS to process customs entries and manage clearance documentation.
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve customs queries, documentation discrepancies and clearance delays.
• Monitor shipments throughout the clearance process to ensure timely release.
• Maintain accurate records of customs entries and supporting documentation.
• Identify and resolve issues that could affect the successful clearance of containers.
• Work towards ensuring containers are cleared correctly and without unnecessary delays or complications.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience in customs clearing and forwarding, within an Entry Clerk role.
• Afrikaans proficiency (non-negotiable).
• Proven experience with ACS (highly beneficial).
• Strong knowledge of customs entry processes and South African import regulations.
• Knowledge of NRCS requirements, Consumer Commission regulations and police stops.
