This role sits at the intersection of Data Engineering and Data Analytics, with a strong focus on building reliable, scalable and performant data models and data assets that enable effective reporting and decision-making.\nThe ideal candidate will have strong SQL and data modelling experience, a solid understanding of analytics engineering principles, and experience developing production-grade data solutions within modern data environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop and maintain scalable data models, data marts and semantic layers.\n\nDevelop robust SQL transformations, data pipelines and production-grade data assets.\n\nApply dimensional modelling and data warehousing best practices.\n\nImplement data validation, testing and quality assurance frameworks.\n\nOptimise SQL queries, data models and workloads for performance and scalability.\n\nDevelop and maintain reliable transformation code using version control, CI/CD and testing practices.\n\nSupport and troubleshoot production data models and resolve data or performance issues.\n\nCollaborate with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Architects and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into effective data solutions.\n\nContribute to data standards, reusable modelling components and technical best practices.\n\nParticipate in code reviews and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve data processes, automation and team productivity, including through modern tooling and AI-enabled approaches.\n\nMinimum Requirements\nBachelor's or Honours degree in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related technical discipline.\n\nProven experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or a closely related role.\n\nStrong experience in SQL and data modelling.\n\nPractical experience with data warehousing and dimensional modelling.\n\nExperience developing and productionising data models, reports or analytical data assets using software engineering principles.\n\nExperience with CI/CD, version control and data testing frameworks.\n\nExperience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect or similar.\n\nUnderstanding of data governance, data quality and production support.\n\nExperience working with cloud data platforms.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.\n\nTechnical Environment\nEssential:\nAdvanced SQL\n\nData Modelling\n\nData Warehousing\n\nETL / ELT & Data Transformations\n\nData Quality & Testing\n\nCI/CD & Version Control\n\nData Pipelines / Orchestration\n\nSemantic Layer / Data Marts\n\nCloud Data Platforms\n\nAdvantageous:\nAirflow / Prefect\n\ndbt or similar analytics engineering tools\n\nPython\n\nPower BI / Tableau or similar BI tools\n\nModern cloud data platforms\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nWe're looking for someone who can operate beyond simply writing SQL - someone who understands how data should be structured, transformed, tested and delivered for analytical use.\nThe successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, making technical decisions, influencing data modelling and architecture discussions, and helping improve the overall quality and efficiency of the data environment.\nPBT Group | Data Specialists | Building Careers.
