Roles and Responsibilities

Perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance on plant equipment and systems. Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, repairs and breakdown maintenance. Inspect, test and maintain instrumentation and electrical equipment to ensure reliable plant operation. Work with a range of sensors, transmitters and process instrumentation. Install, maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical actuators. Carry out maintenance and fault finding on motors and associated electrical equipment. Troubleshoot and maintain PLC and/or DCS-controlled systems. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules and procedures. Identify equipment faults and determine appropriate corrective action. Conduct testing and calibration of instrumentation where required. Assist with equipment installations, modifications and commissioning activities. Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, instrumentation diagrams and technical documentation. Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with site procedures. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, repairs and equipment condition. Work collaboratively with production, engineering and maintenance teams to minimise equipment downtime. Take ownership of technical problems and independently troubleshoot and resolve faults.

Minimum Requirements

Relevant technical qualification, trade or certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, E&I or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years' directly relevant hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance. Proven experience in an industrial, process, manufacturing, mining, petrochemical or heavy-industry environment. Strong practical experience with: Electrical maintenance Instrumentation Fault finding and repairs Sensors and transmitters Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical actuators Motors PLC and/or DCS systems Preventative and corrective maintenance Ability to read and understand electrical and instrumentation drawings. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for maintenance and fault-finding activities. Good English AND Afrikaans communication skills.
