The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, fault-finding, repair, maintenance and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment within the plant, with particular focus on High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) systems.\nThe role requires strong technical and problem-solving skills, a commitment to safety, operational excellence and compliance with mining standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nInstall, inspect, test, maintain and repair electrical systems, machinery and equipment.\n\nPerform preventative and corrective maintenance, fault-finding and repairs.\n\nWork safely with HT and LT electrical systems.\n\nConduct electrical testing and ensure equipment meets required specifications.\n\nIdentify electrical hazards and implement corrective measures.\n\nAssist with planned maintenance, breakdowns and emergency repairs.\n\nMinimise downtime through effective fault diagnosis and timely repairs.\n\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance, faults and repairs.\n\nWork with maintenance, engineering and production teams to ensure optimal plant performance.\n\nFollow mine safety procedures, permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out and operational protocols.\n\nMaintain good housekeeping and participate in inspections, audits and safety initiatives.\n\nPerform other reasonable duties associated with the position.\n\nMinimum Requirements\nGrade 12 / Matric - Required\n\nRecognised Electrician Trade Certificate - Required\n\n5-10 years' operational experience in a chrome plant environment\n\n5-10 years' experience with HT and LT plant electrical systems\n\nProven experience as an Electrician within a chrome plant environment.\n\nStrong electrical fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nProven ability to work safely and effectively in mining/industrial environments.\n\nAdditional Requirements\nMedically fit and able to obtain a mine-entry medical certificate.\n\nPhysically fit and capable of working underground, including confined and challenging conditions.\n\nClear criminal background check.\n\nGood verbal and written English communication skills.\n\nReliable, responsible and able to comply with strict mine safety procedures.\n\nNon-local candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense.\n\nWilling to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays when required.\n\nWilling to comply with all site-specific safety, medical, access and induction requirements.\n\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong commitment to occupational health and safety.\n\nExcellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.\n\nStrong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.\n\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nReliable, disciplined and responsible work ethic.\n\nAbility to remain calm and effective during breakdowns and operational pressures.\n\nGood planning, prioritisation and time-management skills.\n\nCommitment to preventative maintenance and equipment reliability.\n\nAbility to follow technical instructions, procedures and safety standards.\n\nProfessional approach to housekeeping, equipment care and workplace safety.\n\nIdeal Candidate\nA qualified Electrician with substantial hands-on experience in a chrome processing plant and underground mining environment, particularly with HT and LT systems.
