The role requires a hands-on approach, strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage the financial implications of continued business expansion and acquisitions.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nOversee the full financial function, including accounting, financial reporting and month-end and year-end processes.\nPrepare and analyse monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial performance reports.\nManage cash flow, working capital, banking relationships and financial controls.\nMonitor retail trading performance, profitability, margins, operating costs and stock-related financial matters.\nEnsure accurate financial reporting across multiple outlets and business entities.\nOversee reconciliations, balance sheet integrity and general ledger accuracy.\nManage tax compliance, statutory reporting and the annual audit process.\nDevelop and maintain effective financial policies, procedures and internal controls.\nSupport business expansion and acquisitions, including financial due diligence, integration of newly acquired outlets and consolidation of financial information.\nProvide commercial and financial insights to management to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.\nLead and develop the finance team while ensuring efficient financial processes and reliable reporting.\n Minimum RequirementsA relevant financial qualification, preferably a B.Com degree or equivalent.\nCompleted articles with SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA.\nA postgraduate qualification and/or CA(SA) will be advantageous.\nProven experience in a financial management role, with responsibility for the full financial function.\nExperience in the retail sector is highly advantageous.\nA strong understanding of retail financial management, including margins, stock, cash flow and multi-outlet reporting.\nExperience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and internal controls.\nExposure to acquisitions, business integration and multi-entity reporting will be advantageous.\nProficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.\nStrong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.\nThe ability to work independently, meet deadlines and operate effectively in a growing business.\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to engage with operational management.\nPersonal AttributesThe ideal candidate will be commercially minded, detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to balance sound financial control with the practical demands of a fast-growing retail operation.
