You’ll oversee daily garden maintenance, support landscaping projects and irrigation operations, and assist with planning, administration and staff supervision. You’ll also act as second-in-charge in the absence of the Gardens and Grounds Manager, helping maintain the group’s high standards of presentation and upkeep.\nKey Responsibilities\nOversee the daily maintenance and presentation of hotel gardens, grounds, nurseries and landscaped areas\nEnsure irrigation systems operate efficiently and identify and address garden maintenance requirements\nSupervise pruning, trimming, weeding, planting and the upkeep of trees, shrubs, hedges and indoor plants\nMaintain vegetable and herb gardens, assisting with seasonal planting, growing and harvesting\nEnsure pathways and outdoor areas remain clean, clear of debris and aesthetically pleasing\nAssist with landscaping designs, project plans, drawings, specifications and client requirements\nSupport garden maintenance programmes, project planning and the implementation of landscaping improvements\nMaintain garden equipment, tools, stock and stores, ensuring secure storage and compliance with storekeeping procedures\nProvide relief management when required and take ownership of assigned projects and maintenance programmes\nTrain, coach and supervise garden staff, ensuring professional standards, correct uniform and fair disciplinary practices\nMaintain accurate facilities, aesthetics and grounds records, ensuring administrative tasks and outstanding matters are followed up\nWhat We’re Looking For\nGrade 12 or equivalent\nA qualification in horticulture, landscaping or garden maintenance\nA recognised landscape architectural professional certification would be advantageous\nAt least 1 years’ experience working in medium to large gardens\nKnowledge of garden maintenance, landscaping practices, irrigation systems and plant care\nStrong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills\nThe ability to supervise a team, build positive working relationships and maintain high standards\nA proactive, resourceful and detail-oriented approach,
