About the Role

We are looking for a General Manager: Data Transformation & Platforms to lead the development, modernisation and operationalisation of the organisation’s enterprise data platform capability.

The role will drive the modernisation of data environments, scalable data integration and platform engineering practices, while ensuring trusted and accessible enterprise data supports digital products, advanced analytics, pricing optimisation, and customer and fleet decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the enterprise data platform roadmap.

  • Implement scalable cloud-based data architectures.

  • Establish data modelling and architectural governance standards.

  • Modernise legacy data environments towards integrated, API-driven and event-enabled architectures.

  • Lead data integration and data engineering initiatives.

  • Establish data reliability, observability and monitoring practices.

  • Implement data governance, quality, metadata, cataloguing and lineage frameworks.

  • Enable trusted enterprise datasets and a single source of truth.

  • Support AI, advanced analytics and self-service analytics capabilities.

  • Work with executives, Product, IT, Finance, Commercial and other stakeholders.

  • Manage delivery partners, vendors and cross-functional teams.

  • Build and lead a high-performing enterprise data platform team.

  • Manage delivery governance, resourcing and budget inputs.

Minimum Requirements

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

  • 5-7 years' experience in data engineering, data platforms or enterprise architecture.

  • Proven experience building or modernising enterprise data platforms.

  • Experience integrating legacy systems into modern data environments.

  • Experience with cloud data technologies and platform engineering.

  • Experience leading technical delivery teams.

  • Valid driver's licence.

Advantageous

  • NQF Level 8 qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

  • Cloud Data Engineering certifications.

  • Architecture certifications such as TOGAF, Azure, AWS or GCP.

  • Experience in mobility, financial services or asset-intensive industries.

  • Experience supporting AI or advanced analytics initiatives.
