This role offers a combination of remote-based support and practical onsite exposure during the annual harvest season.\nThe IT Engineer will provide day-to-day desktop, Microsoft 365, network and basic server support across client environments. Most of the year will be remote-based, with a three-month onsite rotation in Piketberg during harvest season when operational support requirements increase.\nThe role will suit someone who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple support tickets and communicating with users at different levels of technical ability. The successful candidate will also participate in standby support when required and should be comfortable with practical onsite tasks such as workstation setup, equipment installation and network cabling.\nThe role forms part of a technology services environment supporting multiple client requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the IT Manager and senior technical resources, providing dependable first-line and intermediate support while escalating more complex issues appropriately. Experience in a managed service provider environment is essential.\nWhat You'll Do\nProvide remote technical support to users across Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive\n\nInstall, configure, update and maintain Windows 10/11 desktops and laptops\n\nMonitor client systems and devices using RMM tools\n\nTroubleshoot desktop, network and infrastructure issues\n\nEscalate complex technical issues to senior engineers when required\n\nProvide basic support for Wi-Fi, routers, switches, cabling and VPN connectivity\n\nPerform basic Windows Server support, including restarts, backup checks, disk-space monitoring and troubleshooting\n\nAssist with configuration changes and system adjustments\n\nTravel to Piketberg for approximately three months each year during harvest season\n\nProvide onsite technical support to users during the Piketberg rotation\n\nInstall and repair physical IT equipment\n\nSet up workstations and run or repair network cabling\n\nLog, manage and resolve support tickets through the service desk\n\nMaintain accurate records of troubleshooting activities and resolutions\n\nKeep clients informed about ticket progress\n\nParticipate in standby support outside normal working hours when required\n\nManage user accounts, permissions and access requests through Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID\n\nAssist with device configuration and deployments\n\nMonitor backups and assist with basic recovery tasks\n\nMaintain accurate client documentation, system diagrams and password records\n\nFollow cybersecurity practices including patching, secure password handling and phishing awareness\n\nProtect client and user information and maintain confidentiality\n\nWhat You Bring\nMatric / Grade 12\n\nIT Diploma, certificate or equivalent technical qualification\n\n1-3 years' experience in technical support or a managed services environment\n\nPrevious MSP experience is essential\n\nExperience supporting multiple client environments will be advantageous\n\nWorking knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365\n\nBasic networking knowledge covering LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS\n\nBasic Windows Server knowledge\n\nExperience with RMM, monitoring and ticketing systems\n\nUnderstanding of basic cybersecurity practices\n\nFluent spoken and written English and Afrikaans\n\nValid driver's licence and own reliable transport\n\nOwn smartphone for MFA and standby communication\n\nWillingness and ability to work onsite in Piketberg for approximately three months each year during harvest season\n\nWillingness to participate in standby support outside normal working hours\n\nGood troubleshooting and problem-solving ability\n\nStrong communication and customer-service skills\n\nAbility to manage multiple tickets and priorities\n\nStrong attention to detail when managing users, permissions and technical records\n\nAbility to work independently and use initiative\n\nWillingness to learn new tools and work across different client environments\n\nComfortable with light physical work onsite, including cabling, carrying equipment and occasional
