The role ensures that production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and quality standards.\nThe Operations Manager leads production, packaging, and operational support functions to deliver high-quality products to clients while optimising cost, performance, and workforce capability.\nMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES\n1. Adhere to GMP guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and regulatory requirements\n2. Operational Leadership\nOversee all manufacturing and packaging operations.\nEnsure production plans are executed on time and in full (OTIF).\nDrive adherence to approved batch records and standard operating procedures.\nOptimise capacity utilisation and operational efficiency.\n3.GMP & Regulatory ComplianceMaintain inspection readiness in accordance with SAHPRA.\nEnsure manufacturing documentation is accurate, complete, and audit ready.\n4.Quality & Performance ManagementPartner with Quality Assurance to ensure right-first-time batch execution.\nManage deviations, investigations, and CAPAs within the production environment.\nMonitor KPIs such as yield, scrap, rework, and downtime.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and compliance.\n5.People Leadership & Workforce ManagementLead, develop, and manage production supervisors, team leaders, and operators.\nPromote a culture of accountability, safety, and quality.\nManage workforce planning, training, and performance management.\n6.Health, Safety & Environmental ComplianceEnsure compliance with South African occupational health and safety legislation.\nMaintain safe working conditions and enforce safety protocols.\nDrive incident prevention and safety awareness initiatives.\n7.Planning & Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with Procurement to align production schedules with material availability.\nCoordinate with Engineering to minimise downtime and ensure equipment reliability.\nSupport new product introductions and technology transfers into production.\n8.Cost Control & Resource ManagementManage production budgets and cost control initiatives.\nMonitor labour efficiency and operational costs.\nContribute to capital planning and equipment upgrade decisions.\nMINIMUM EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Engineering, Production Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.\nPostgraduate qualification advantageous.\n MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDMinimum 5 years’ management experience in a manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical is advantageous)\nExperience in a contract manufacturing (CMO/CDMO) environment is advantageous.\nStrong working knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements is advantageous.\nExperience managing unionised workforces is
