The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing high-volume, scalable systems, leading the modernisation of legacy technology and establishing best practices across software development, quality assurance, security and the responsible use of AI.\nWhat Will You Do\nArchitecture and Technology\nTranslate business requirements into solution designs and high-level estimates.\n\nDesign scalable, secure and reliable systems, ensuring optimal performance, monitoring and cloud cost management.\n\nApply clean architecture and domain-driven design across key business domains.\n\nLead the incremental modernisation and replacement of legacy systems while maintaining existing operations.\n\nEvaluate and select technologies, leveraging the existing .NET, Vue and Azure stack where appropriate.\n\nDevelop proofs of concept and review critical code where required.\n\nLead architecture reviews and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.\n\nIntegration and Data\nOwn the integration architecture, establishing a central gateway for client integrations.\n\nLead the migration of legacy SOAP integrations to REST APIs.\n\nEstablish integration standards for webhooks, SFTP file exchange and Salesforce.\n\nOversee data architecture across Microsoft SQL Server and ClickHouse, including data modelling, indexing and event storage.\n\nProcess and Standards\nDefine the SDLC process from requirements through to release.\n\nSet coding, code review, testing, release and secure development standards, including branching, pull requests and YAML pipelines in Azure DevOps.\n\nSelect AI tools for design, coding, code review, testing and documentation.\n\nSet rules for AI-assisted development, including mandatory human review and POPIA-compliant data handling.\n\nUpdate the process and standards based on delivery results and audit findings.\n\nTechnical Leadership\nMentor senior developers and team leads on design decisions.\n\nAgree with team leads how standards apply when delivery pressure conflicts with them and escalate unresolved cases to the Solution Delivery Manager.\n\nWhat Do You Need\nDegree in Computer Science, IT or a related field. Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) or an equivalent architecture certification an advantage.\n\nMinimum 10 years in software development, including at least 3 years in a solution or technical architecture role.\n\nDeep experience building production systems in .NET (C#) and hosting them on Microsoft Azure.\n\nExperience designing integrations and distributed, event-driven systems at high transaction volumes.\n\nExperience with Microsoft SQL Server at scale, including data modelling and performance tuning.\n\nExperience leading the incremental modernisation of legacy systems, without big-bang rewrites.\n\nExperience defining SDLC processes and development standards.\n\nAdvantage. Logistics, courier or supply-chain systems; ClickHouse or another columnar analytics database; Salesforce integration; setting rules for AI-assisted development.\n\nCompetencies\nBackend and API..NET 8+ (C#), REST APIs, clean architecture and domain-driven design.\n\nFrontend. Working knowledge of Vue 3 and TypeScript, enough to guide frontend design.\n\nData. Microsoft SQL Server for operational data; ClickHouse for append-only event and analytical data.\n\nIntegration. REST, SOAP, SFTP and webhooks; API-first integration through a central gateway; Salesforce APIs.\n\nCloud and DevOps. Microsoft Azure; Azure DevOps Repos, YAML Pipelines, Boards and Wiki.\n\nSecurity and compliance. Secure development practices and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).\n\nAI.
