reputable QSR / Retail client is seeking an experienced and highly driven Training Manager to join their team.Purpose of the Role\nThe Training Manager will be responsible for executing and managing training delivery across an assigned portfolio of stores, ensuring that employees and store leadership are trained in line with operational, product, food safety, and brand standards.\nThe successful candidate will plan and coordinate training schedules, facilitate key learning interventions, manage and coach trainers, and provide training support for new store openings, revamps, and operational requirements.\nThe role will also be responsible for monitoring training completion and employee competence, identifying and addressing skills gaps, and partnering closely with Operations and the Regional Training Manager to continuously improve store capability and training effectiveness.\nMinimum Requirements\nQualifications\nGrade 12 / Matric.\nRelevant Diploma in Human Resources, Education, Training & Development, Operations, or a related field.\nRegistered Assessor and/or Facilitator accreditation will be advantageous.\nExperience\nMinimum 3-5 years’ Training & Development experience.\nPractical experience in operational training and facilitation.\nAt least 1-2 years’ experience in a Senior Trainer, Team Lead or Training Supervisory role preferred.\nPrevious experience within QSR, Retail, Hospitality or another high-volume operational environment is strongly preferred.\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong facilitation and presentation skills.\nCoaching and employee effectively within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nTraining Delivery & Facilitation\nDeliver and oversee practical, classroom and on-the-job training across assigned stores.\nFacilitate induction, product knowledge, food safety, systems, and operational skills training.\nFacilitate development programmes for Managers and Team Leaders.\nEnsure all training is engaging, consistent and aligned with approved training frameworks, SOPs and brand standards.\nTraining Planning & Needs AnalysisIdentify training and capability gaps through store visits, assessments, operational feedback, and audit findings.\nWork closely with Area Managers and Store Managers to understand training requirements.\nDevelop and maintain training schedules in line with regional priorities and the approved training calendar.\nPrioritize training interventions according to operational risk, performance gaps, new product launches, and business requirements.\nNew Store Openings & Operational Readiness\nCoordinate and deliver training for new store openings, revamps, and relaunches.\nEnsure employees are fully trained, assessed and operationally ready prior to opening.\nProvide post-opening coaching and follow-up support.\nIdentify and close capability gaps following store launches.\nTrainer Leadership & Development\nAllocate training assignments and coordinate the day-to-day activities of trainers.\nCoach trainers on facilitation quality, operational knowledge, learner engagement, and assessment consistency.\nMonitor trainer performance and provide development support.\nEscalate performance, capability, capacity or conduct concerns where required.\nProvide leadership and guidance to Manager Trainers, Skills Trainers, Classroom Trainers, and Training Administration.\nAssessment, Compliance & Reporting\nAssess employee competence through practical evaluations, knowledge assessments, and observation.\nTrack training attendance, completion rates, and assessment outcomes.\nMonitor mandatory training compliance across assigned stores.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date training records.\nProvide training reports and compliance updates to the Regional Training Manager.\nTraining Quality & Continuous Improvement\nProvide feedback on training materials, SOPs, assessments, and learning tools.\nSupport the rollout and testing of new training content and digital learning tools.\nSupport blended learning initiatives.\nIdentify recurring operational learning gaps and recommend targeted training interventions.\nContinuously improve facilitation, coaching, assessment, and learner engagement methods.\nStakeholder Engagement\nPartner closely with Area Managers and Store Managers to coordinate training activities.\nResolve training-related operational challenges.\nProvide feedback regarding store capability, training readiness, and recurring skills gaps.\nSupport regional training projects and wider business initiatives.\nKey Performance Indicators\nThe successful candidate will be measured against:\nTraining completion rates across assigned stores.\nAssessment pass rates and demonstrated employee competence.\nNew store and revamp training readiness.\nMandatory training compliance.\nAccuracy of training records.\nTraining calendar adherence and store coverage.\nImprovement in store audit and operational performance within trained areas.\nTrainer delivery quality and completion of assigned training activities.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate will be a hands-on Training Manager who is comfortable working directly within stores and operational environments rather than operating purely from a classroom or corporate training perspective.
