AI-First Mid Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a AI-First Mid Software Engineer based in Brazil.

As an AI-First Mid Software Engineer, you will build modern, scalable cloud-native applications while using AI to accelerate and improve the software development lifecycle.

You will work hands-on across the full engineering lifecycle, taking ownership from design and development through testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

The role combines strong expertise in Java and Python with Azure, Databricks, microservices, and modern DevOps practices.

You will actively use AI to automate repetitive tasks, improve code quality, streamline engineering workflows, and increase developer productivity.

You will collaborate closely with architects, product owners, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders across distributed engineering teams.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, enterprise-grade applications using Java and Python.
• Build and evolve cloud-native microservices and REST APIs, applying sound software architecture and distributed-systems principles.
• Develop data-intensive solutions using Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
• Leverage Microsoft Azure services to build, deploy, and operate reliable cloud-based applications.
• Apply AI-first development practices to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and other engineering workflows.
• Identify repetitive engineering activities and implement automation to improve development efficiency and productivity.
• Take end-to-end ownership of services, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, sprint planning, code reviews, and other engineering ceremonies.
• Work closely with architects, product owners, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with onsite and offshore engineering teams in a distributed environment.
• Implement automated testing and CI/CD practices to maintain software quality and reliable delivery.
• Contribute to engineering standards and best practices across development, cloud infrastructure, and AI adoption.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and encourage technical excellence and responsible use of AI development tools.
• Diagnose complex technical issues and apply strong analytical and debugging skills to deliver effective solutions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Python.
• Proven experience working with Microsoft Azure in enterprise or cloud-native environments.
• Strong experience with Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing enterprise-grade microservices and REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Proficiency with Git, automated testing frameworks, and Agile software development methodologies.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in using AI to improve software engineering productivity, code quality, automation, or development workflows.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in distributed teams.
• Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute positively to engineering culture and continuous improvement.
