Data & AI Technical Lead

This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and evolution of advanced data and AI platforms supporting mission-critical solutions.
You will combine hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership, shaping architectures that transform complex data into actionable intelligence.
Working across data pipelines, AI systems, backend services, and agent-based technologies, you will help build scalable and reliable platforms.
The position requires a balance of strategic thinking and deep technical execution, with ownership from design through production.

Accountabilities:
As a Data & AI Technical Lead, you will own technical execution and architecture decisions across data and AI systems. You will work closely with engineering leadership to design scalable solutions, drive delivery, and establish best practices across the technology landscape.
- Co-design and evolve technical architecture across data pipelines, AI workflows, agent systems, and service integrations.
- Lead the design and implementation of data and AI flows across multiple systems, ensuring reliable ingestion, transformation, storage, retrieval, and consumption.
- Make independent technical decisions, document architectural choices, and provide clear trade-off analysis.
- Design and build AI-powered solutions including RAG pipelines, MCP tools, and APIs that connect intelligent systems with enterprise data.
- Develop backend services using Python and FastAPI within scalable, event-driven architectures.
- Establish and promote engineering standards around code quality, design patterns, documentation, testing, and collaboration.
- Mentor engineers and support the development of strong technical capabilities across the team.
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively and help define best practices for AI-enabled engineering workflows.
- Drive initiatives from discovery through production, ensuring successful delivery, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product managers, QA teams, engineers, and other technical leaders to align solutions with business objectives.
- Improve production readiness through observability, monitoring, testing strategies, and operational excellence.
- Participate in technical hiring and contribute to the growth and direction of the engineering organization.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced technical leader with strong expertise in data engineering, AI systems, and backend development. You should be comfortable owning complex technical challenges, influencing teams, and delivering scalable solutions in evolving environments.
- Strong Python engineering experience, with the ability to build maintainable production-grade applications, services, and data workflows.
- Proven experience designing scalable data architectures, including schema design, storage strategies, pipeline architecture, and data modeling.
- Solid understanding of AI systems, including LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agents, and tool-based AI workflows.
- Experience building backend services and APIs using FastAPI or equivalent technologies.
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Docker and containerized application environments.
- Experience designing and operating production systems with a focus on reliability, monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to provide technical leadership through influence, communication, and strong engineering judgment.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar solutions as part of daily development workflows.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage initiatives from requirements and architecture through deployment and production support.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and business teams in distributed environments.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments where priorities evolve and solutions require adaptability.
Nice to have:
- Experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), vector databases, and embedding-based retrieval systems.
- Experience with prompt engineering, evaluation workflows, and LLM optimization.
- Knowledge of advanced AI concepts such as neural networks, fine-tuning, and model optimization.
- Experience with analytical databases such as ClickHouse or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with orchestration platforms such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
- Experience integrating and managing heterogeneous data sources.
