English to Spanish (LatAm) Life Sciences Linguist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an English to Spanish (LatAm) Life Sciences Linguist based in Ireland.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality language solutions supporting global pharmaceutical, clinical research, and medical device operations.

You will translate and review specialized life sciences content where linguistic accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance are essential.

The position covers clinical trial, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory documentation across a wide range of document types.

You will work with translation technologies and structured quality processes to deliver accurate content within demanding timelines.

Your expertise will directly support materials used throughout clinical development, safety monitoring, regulatory activities, and commercialization.

The role requires exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain terminology, tone, and meaning across complex medical content.

Accountabilities

• Translate clinical research, regulatory, and pharmacovigilance documents from English into Latin American Spanish with a high level of linguistic and technical accuracy.
• Perform Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) on machine-translated safety and life sciences content.
• Review translated and post-edited materials through copy editing to ensure accuracy, consistency, appropriate tone, terminology, and readability.
• Work across clinical research documentation such as protocols and synopses, Investigator's Brochures, Informed Consent Forms, patient information sheets, and patient diaries.
• Translate and review regulatory materials including SmPCs, PILs, labels, and CTD modules.
• Handle pharmacovigilance documentation such as PSURs, DSURs, Risk Management Plans, Serious Adverse Event reports, and Adverse Event documentation.
• Work within the client's designated CAT tool environment, including XTM or Phrase, following project-specific workflows and instructions.
• Use Microsoft Word Track Changes effectively when reviewing or editing documents.
• Meet strict, non-extendable turnaround times for time-sensitive translation and review projects.
• Follow established quality procedures and project instructions to ensure consistent, reliable, and audit-ready deliverables.
• Complete the required assessment as part of the onboarding and quality assurance process.

Requirements

• At least two years of practical professional translation experience specifically involving life sciences, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, and/or medical documentation.
• A degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, or an equivalent discipline; alternatively, a recognized graduate qualification in another field combined with at least two years of full-time translation experience.
• Candidates without the above educational background may qualify with at least five years of full-time professional translation experience.
• Demonstrated experience translating English into Latin American Spanish, preferably across clinical, regulatory, and pharmacovigilance content.
• Familiarity with CAT tools such as XTM or Phrase; the required license will be provided.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word Track Changes and document review workflows.
• Strong understanding of life sciences terminology and the ability to accurately handle specialized medical and regulatory content.
• Exceptional attention to detail, consistency, and linguistic accuracy.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage time-sensitive assignments reliably.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to preserve the intended meaning, tone, and technical accuracy of source materials.
• Willingness to complete a translation assessment as part of the onboarding and quality process.
• A degree or academic background in Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Research, Translation, Linguistics, Philology, or a related field is an advantage.
• Previous in-house experience within a CRO, pharmaceutical company, medical device organization, or related life sciences environment is beneficial.
