Join a remote game development team focused on bringing completed indie games to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
The primary focus of this role is console porting, adapting existing games to meet platform-specific technical and certification requirements.
You’ll also contribute hands-on development work, including gameplay features, debugging, optimization, and technical improvements.
The role offers the opportunity to work across game engines, codebases, assets, and console-specific challenges.
You’ll collaborate with designers, artists, indie developers, and other team members to deliver polished, console-ready builds.
Your work will directly support the publishing pipeline and help bring distinctive indie titles to console audiences.

Accountabilities
- Port and adapt existing indie-developed games for PlayStation and Xbox, ensuring they meet platform-specific technical, performance, and certification requirements.
- Develop and implement gameplay features, mechanics, interactive experiences, and other technical improvements alongside core porting responsibilities.
- Work with GameMaker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar game development platforms to build, adapt, maintain, and troubleshoot projects.
- Translate game concepts and technical requirements into functional, engaging, and reliable gameplay experiences.
- Write clean, maintainable, structured code and contribute effectively to existing codebases created by other developers.
- Debug, test, and resolve gameplay, technical, performance, and console-specific issues throughout the porting process.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, indie development partners, and other contributors to deliver high-quality console builds.
- Integrate and troubleshoot game assets, animations, audio, UI elements, and other required components.
- Optimize games for console hardware, addressing performance and platform-specific technical considerations.
- Review and evaluate games or code produced by other developers and provide clear, constructive technical and design feedback.
- Participate in testing, iteration, refinement, and certification-related updates based on feedback and platform requirements.
- Maintain clear documentation and provide regular progress updates on porting and development activities.
- Proven experience porting or adapting games for console platforms such as PlayStation and/or Xbox, or strong game development experience with the ability to learn console porting and certification workflows.
- Genuine familiarity with PlayStation consoles is required, while Xbox familiarity is preferred; active console gaming experience is a strong advantage.
- Experience with PlayStation Partners or ID@Xbox developer programs is preferred but not essential.
- Professional or hands-on experience with GameMaker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, or a comparable game development platform.
- Familiarity with GML, C#, and/or Python, which are commonly used within the development environment.
- Solid understanding of gameplay mechanics, game systems, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
- Experience taking game features from initial concept through development, testing, iteration, and refinement.
- Ability to work confidently with existing projects and codebases, including those created by other developers.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, particularly when working through platform-specific issues.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working effectively within a distributed remote team.
- Experience reviewing games or code created by other developers, with the ability to provide practical and constructive feedback.
- A portfolio, GitHub profile, playable game, or examples of previous game development or console-porting work is highly desirable.
