Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Group Underwriter IV based in the United States.

This is a senior-level underwriting opportunity focused on assessing and selecting risk across small, mid-sized, and large group accounts.

You will work across Life, Disability, and Worksite products, developing accurate rates and tailored proposals for new business and renewals.

The role offers significant autonomy while also providing opportunities to mentor underwriting and sales professionals.

You will use advanced underwriting principles, financial analysis, and rating methodologies to support sound business decisions.

Your expertise will also contribute to client service, RFP responses, product initiatives, and specialized underwriting projects.

This remote position is suited to an analytical, highly organized professional who can manage complex priorities independently.

You’ll join a collaborative environment where technical expertise, continuous development, and career growth are strongly encouraged.

Accountabilities

    • Conduct advanced risk assessment and selection for small, mid-sized, and large group accounts across Life, Disability, and Worksite products, exercising sound underwriting judgment and appropriate autonomy.
    • Develop rates for new groups using established proposal and rating systems, applying experience-rating formulas and determining when deviations or alternative recommendations are appropriate.
    • Prepare formal proposals, renewals, financial exhibits, RFP responses, spreadsheets, and related documentation accurately and within established guidelines.
    • Complete annual renewals across applicable products and manage ongoing account maintenance, including benefit changes, reporting, and client inquiries.
    • Verify sold-case information and final rates to ensure accuracy before implementation.
    • Provide responsive service to existing group clients through professional telephone and email communication.
    • Train, mentor, and support lower-level underwriters and sales staff, sharing technical knowledge and reinforcing effective underwriting practices.
    • Lead or contribute to special product, rating, subject-matter-expert, and other underwriting projects as assigned.
    • Manage multiple priorities and projects while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and service.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience; equivalent military experience may also be considered.
      • At least 5 years of underwriting experience, preferably involving Life, Disability, Supplemental, Worksite, or related group insurance products.
      • Advanced knowledge of group insurance products, Life and Disability underwriting, underwriting principles, and rating methodologies.
      • Demonstrated ability to apply experience-rating formulas across applicable insurance products and make informed underwriting recommendations.
      • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent attention to detail.
      • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work effectively with spreadsheets, word-processing tools, and underwriting systems.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex underwriting considerations clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
      • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines independently.
      • Proven ability to mentor colleagues, collaborate across teams, and contribute as a subject-matter expert.
      • LOMA and/or HIAA certification is preferred.
      • Benefits

        • Starting base salary range of $79,200-$95,500, with a full salary range of $79,200-$110,900, depending on qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and other factors.
        • Eligibility for an annual incentive plan based on company and individual performance.
        • Fully remote work opportunities with company-provided equipment.
        • Approximately 3.5 weeks of paid time off and 11 paid holidays.
        • 401(k) plan with up to 6% company match, fully vested from day one.
        • Tuition reimbursement and career advancement opportunities.
        • Employee Assistance Program.
        • Recharge Days and Volunteer Time Off.
        • Inclusion Council and Employee Resource Groups.
        • Comprehensive and affordable employee benefits.
        • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
        • A culture focused on inclusion, employee recognition, empowerment, and community involvement.
