This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Javanese Speakers - Test Voice Modes of AI Models based in Germany.

This project-based opportunity is designed for highly proficient Javanese speakers interested in helping improve the quality of conversational AI systems.

You will interact with AI chatbots through voice mode, conducting structured conversations entirely in Javanese as spoken in Indonesia.

Your feedback will help evaluate how effectively AI models understand, respond to, and sustain natural voice conversations in the target language.

The work combines language expertise, careful evaluation, and attention to detail in a flexible, task-oriented environment.

You will follow predefined prompts and conversation goals, then assess the quality of each interaction according to detailed guidelines.

The role is well suited to language professionals, experienced evaluators, voice contributors, and motivated individuals with strong linguistic skills.

Workload may vary depending on project needs, offering flexibility while contributing directly to the development of better AI experiences.

Accountabilities

• Conduct voice-mode conversations with designated AI chatbots using predefined starting prompts and conversation objectives.
• Complete each interaction entirely in Javanese as spoken in the Indonesia region (jv_ID).
• Evaluate and rate voice-mode interactions on a laptop according to established project guidelines and quality criteria.
• Complete all written evaluations in English, ensuring feedback is accurate, complete, and clearly documented.
• Follow detailed instructions carefully to achieve required conversation goals and maintain consistency across evaluations.
• Assess voice interactions with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, naturalness, and overall quality.
• Work with AI chatbots using a personal smartphone and complete evaluation activities using a personal laptop.
• Be prepared to complete certain tasks in different environments, including quiet or noisy settings and indoor or outdoor locations, depending on project requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all project-related information and comply with applicable platform and project requirements.
• Complete assigned tasks reliably while adapting to potentially varying workloads throughout the project.

Requirements

• Advanced or expert-level fluency in Javanese, corresponding to approximately C2 CEFR proficiency, specifically the variety spoken in Indonesia.
• Strong English comprehension and written English skills, as all evaluations and project feedback must be completed in English.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to assess conversational AI interactions accurately and consistently.
• Strong listening, communication, and linguistic judgment skills, with the ability to recognize naturalness, clarity, pronunciation, and contextual appropriateness.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and predefined conversation scenarios precisely.
• Comfortable using voice-enabled AI applications and adapting quickly to new digital tools and workflows.
• Previous experience in AI evaluation, professional voice recording, transcription, translation, localization, linguistic testing, or similar work is advantageous but not necessarily required.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high standard of accuracy across repetitive evaluation tasks.
• Must have a compatible personal smartphone capable of installing required chatbot applications and a personal laptop for evaluation activities.
• Must have or be willing to create an Upwork account, as the project is managed through the platform.
• Must have a Gmail account for project communication and access.
• Comfortable completing tasks that may involve short video recordings, including recordings that could feature faces or objects.
• Willingness to complete required identity verification and background screening procedures.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding project information and comply with applicable platform agreements.
