Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Journalist Support Correspondent based in United States.

This part-time, remote position supports journalists seeking expert sources through a science-focused matching service.

You’ll monitor incoming requests, respond quickly, and help reporters connect with relevant scientific experts.

The role is ideal for someone familiar with journalism or media relations who can communicate clearly under tight deadlines.

You’ll collaborate closely with an expert-matching team to resolve inquiries and maintain smooth coverage across shifts.

Strong judgment, attention to detail, and concise communication will be essential to delivering responsive journalist support.

With flexible scheduling of up to 17 hours per week, the position can complement freelance journalism or other professional commitments.

The initial engagement is expected to run from November 1, 2026, through May 31, 2028.

Accountabilities

    • Monitor incoming journalist inquiries during assigned duty hours and provide rapid, clear responses in accordance with established service policies, procedures, and scope.
    • Coordinate with scientist-facing team members to follow up on requests, resolve inquiries, and ensure journalists receive appropriate support.
    • Record relevant journalist inquiry information accurately in the Salesforce database.
    • Communicate with the broader inbox team to ensure consistent and seamless operations across different shifts.
    • Identify unusual, sensitive, or challenging correspondence and escalate questions to appropriate team members when needed.
    • Apply sound judgment and attention to detail when handling time-sensitive journalist requests.
    • Requirements

      • Some professional experience in journalism or media relations, or demonstrated familiarity with journalism terminology, practices, and professional standards.
      • Excellent ability to communicate quickly, concisely, and clearly in written and verbal interactions.
      • Strong decision-making and prioritization skills, particularly when working under tight deadlines.
      • High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records while managing multiple inquiries.
      • Interest in, experience with, or enthusiasm for science is highly desirable.
      • Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment and coordinate smoothly with colleagues across shifts.
      • Must be located in, or willing to relocate to, an approved U.S. state where the organization has a business presence.
      • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
      • Benefits

        • Part-time, remote work arrangement with flexible scheduling based on operational needs.
        • Up to 17 hours per week, making the role suitable for freelance journalists or professionals seeking supplemental work.
        • Initial compensation of $30 per hour.
        • Fixed engagement period from November 1, 2026, through May 31, 2028.
        • Opportunity to work at the intersection of journalism, science, and expert communications.
        • Applications reviewed on a rolling basis, with selected candidates contacted for interview steps.
        • Remote collaboration that allows continued professional or reporting activities alongside the role.
