Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineering Consultant based in the United States.

This is a fully remote consulting opportunity supporting clients across the electric power industry.

The role focuses on evaluating, developing, and optimizing complex power generation projects and facilities.

You will contribute to conceptual design, engineering reviews, technical due diligence, and owner’s engineer services.

Your expertise will help clients make informed technical, commercial, and project-development decisions.

The position offers exposure to economic analysis, risk assessment, cost evaluation, and contract development.

You will work on technically challenging projects with opportunities for domestic and international travel.

The role also provides an opportunity to champion automation, AI, and modern engineering tools to improve delivery and reduce rework.

Accountabilities

    • Provide development support, conceptual design, and owner’s engineer services for electric power generation projects and facilities.
    • Perform technical evaluations, engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, and project development assessments.
    • Apply mechanical engineering expertise to the design and evaluation of thermal power projects and related systems.
    • Support project economic and cost analyses, risk assessments, and contract development activities.
    • Evaluate technical aspects of projects to help clients identify opportunities, risks, constraints, and optimization strategies.
    • Contribute to assessments of power station operations, performance, process design, and overall project feasibility.
    • Support domestic and international client engagements and travel as required.
    • Lead or support the adoption of automation, data-driven workflows, AI, and agentic AI tools to improve engineering processes, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
    • Provide appropriate oversight and quality review of automated calculations, technical summaries, design documentation, and other AI-assisted engineering outputs.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical findings clearly to clients and project stakeholders.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program, with a strong academic background.
      • At least 5 years of experience in the electric power industry, including hands-on experience with detailed mechanical design for thermal power projects.
      • Demonstrated experience supporting development and conceptual design of thermal power projects.
      • Strong technical communication, report-writing, and documentation skills.
      • Ability to evaluate complex engineering issues, develop practical solutions, and communicate recommendations effectively.
      • Experience with technical due diligence and owner’s engineering design reviews for thermal power projects is preferred.
      • General knowledge of power station operations, performance reviews, and process design at electric power generation facilities is advantageous.
      • Experience with economic analysis, project cost analysis, or contract development is a plus.
      • Familiarity with international engineering codes and standards is preferred.
      • Willingness and ability to guide teams in the use of automation and AI-enabled engineering workflows.
      • Experience overseeing or reviewing engineering automation using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required.
      • Additional education or experience in computer science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or related fields is a plus.
      • Strong collaboration, leadership, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
      • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored work authorization.
      • Benefits

        • Salary: $84,762-$129,498, with eligible employees potentially participating in a discretionary annual bonus.
        • Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision plans.
        • Financial protection: Life and accident insurance, disability coverage, and an Employee Assistance Program.
        • Savings: 401(k), FSA, HSA, and pre-tax commuter account.
        • Time off: Paid vacation, personal/sick time, holidays, parental leave, and bereavement leave.
        • Flexibility: Remote work and flexible work arrangements.
        • Family support: Back-up daycare and other work-life resources.
        • Professional development: Tuition assistance, merit scholarship opportunities, and first professional licensure bonus.
        • Additional perks: Employee discount program, referral bonus, and corporate charitable giving program.
        • Employee-focused culture: Comprehensive benefits designed to support health, financial well-being, professional growth, and work-life balance.
