Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Manager - Retail Construction based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead commercial real estate projects for a major retail client, from initial planning through construction, occupancy, and closeout.

You will manage retail fit-outs and relocations while serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients.

The position combines project strategy, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction coordination, risk management, and quality control.

You will work across multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects remain aligned with business objectives, timelines, and financial targets.

The role is remote, with approximately 25% travel to client sites across the United States.

Success requires strong commercial construction knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to anticipate challenges and develop practical solutions.

You will also contribute to team development by sharing expertise, mentoring colleagues, and helping deliver consistently high-quality project outcomes.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead commercial real estate projects through the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.
    • Manage retail fit-out and relocation projects while ensuring alignment with client strategic objectives, scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
    • Work directly with clients to define project scope, resource requirements, cost estimates, budgets, work plans, schedules, milestones, quality controls, and risks.
    • Identify and coordinate appropriate project delivery resources using pre-qualified resources or established qualification processes.
    • Manage requests for proposals, evaluate bids, and provide informed resource recommendations to clients.
    • Establish and maintain project documentation governance in accordance with client and organizational requirements.
    • Ensure project information, records, and documentation remain accurate, complete, timely, and properly coordinated.
    • Develop action plans to achieve project objectives and closely monitor progress, budgets, schedules, milestones, and variances.
    • Identify project threats early and develop appropriate risk mitigation, contingency, and corrective action plans.
    • Apply established project management principles and construction practices to solve complex challenges and develop effective, innovative solutions.
    • Build consensus among stakeholders, influence decisions, and maintain productive relationships throughout project delivery.
    • Mentor colleagues, share technical and project management knowledge, and contribute to the development of broader team capabilities.
    • Model high standards of professionalism, integrity, service, collaboration, and accountability in all client and project interactions.
    • Travel approximately 25% to client locations nationally, with on-site requirements subject to client needs.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree preferred, with 5-8 years of relevant experience; an equivalent combination of education and professional experience may also be considered.
      • Proven experience managing retail commercial real estate construction projects, particularly fit-outs, relocations, or similar initiatives.
      • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, project delivery, leases, contracts, and related real estate processes.
      • Ability to interpret and work with architectural drawings and construction documentation.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheet is beneficial.
      • PMP, LEED AP, and/or CCM certifications are preferred.
      • Strong project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, documentation, and risk management capabilities.
      • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, with an inquisitive mindset and the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems, make informed decisions, and maintain project momentum.
      • Strong leadership and influencing skills, including the ability to build consensus and drive stakeholders toward agreement.
      • Ability to mentor others and contribute knowledge across project management and related disciplines.
      • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
      • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% to client sites across the United States.
      • Benefits:

        • Remote work arrangement with approximately 25% national travel to client sites.
        • Opportunity to manage high-impact retail construction and commercial real estate projects from initiation through completion.
        • Exposure to complex, nationally distributed client programs and multidisciplinary project teams.
        • Flexible and productive working environment designed to support work-life balance.
        • Opportunities to develop professionally through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and exposure to diverse project challenges.
        • Inclusive workplace focused on collaboration, respect, diversity, and giving employees a voice.
        • Opportunity to contribute to projects that create tangible outcomes for clients, customers, and communities.
        • Equal opportunity employment environment with confidentiality and fair consideration throughout the recruitment process.
