Project Manager (Software Development)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Manager (Software Development) based in Brazil.

This role offers the opportunity to lead complex software development projects from planning through successful delivery. You will coordinate multiple workstreams, manage critical dependencies, and ensure projects remain aligned with scope, budget, resources, and timelines. Your work will be essential to delivering against demanding external deadlines while proactively managing risks and changes. You will collaborate closely with distributed engineering teams, clients, executives, and third-party vendors. The position combines structured project management with strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving. You will contribute to meaningful technology projects in a fast-paced, collaborative consulting environment. Accountabilities

• Lead software development projects across multiple concurrent workstreams, managing scope, budgets, resources, timelines, and delivery objectives.
• Plan and manage critical paths and schedule buffers to ensure successful delivery against fixed and immovable external deadlines, such as product launches and trade shows.
• Maintain client dependency registers with required-by dates, accountable owners, escalation paths, and clear follow-up actions.
• Establish and manage formal risk registers, identifying, tracking, mitigating, and escalating project risks and dependencies as required.
• Manage project change-control processes to assess and communicate the impact of scope, timeline, resource, and budget changes.
• Coordinate third-party vendor dependencies, including contracts, credentials, integration requirements, and delivery timelines.
• Facilitate Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, across software development teams.
• Define and track milestone- and gate-based acceptance criteria to ensure deliverables meet agreed project and client expectations.
• Prepare and deliver clear client-facing project status reports, communicating progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and required actions.
• Use project management and tracking platforms such as Jira, Asana, or similar tools to maintain project visibility and accountability.
• Translate technical concepts, project constraints, and delivery considerations into clear information for non-technical clients and executive stakeholders.
• Coordinate distributed engineering teams working on large and complex software systems.
• Resolve project conflicts and delivery challenges while maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
• Take full ownership and accountability for project deliverables, commitments, and outcomes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience managing software development projects.
• Proven experience delivering projects against fixed, immovable external deadlines, with strong critical-path planning and buffer management skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing client dependencies, formal risk registers, change-control processes, and project escalation paths.
• Strong experience managing project scope, budgets, resources, timelines, and multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Experience coordinating third-party vendors and managing contracts, credentials, integrations, and external delivery dependencies.
• Hands-on experience leading Agile/Scrum or Kanban teams and applying structured project management practices.
• Experience with milestone- and gate-based acceptance criteria and client-facing project status reporting.
• Proficiency with project management and tracking tools such as Jira, Asana, or similar platforms.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clients and executives.
• Substantial experience working with large, complex systems and distributed engineering teams.
• Experience in projects involving regulatory or compliance requirements, such as legal approvals or statutory deadlines, is preferred.
• Experience working with nearshore US-LATAM delivery teams is preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.
