Python Senior Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Python Senior Engineer based in India.

This is a senior engineering opportunity for a Python specialist who enjoys building scalable, production-ready software in modern technology environments. You will contribute to AI transformation initiatives and help develop intelligent, enterprise-grade products for ambitious organizations. The role combines hands-on backend development with API design, database engineering, cloud infrastructure, and containerization. You will work within globally distributed, cross-functional teams where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence are highly valued. There is strong scope to influence architecture, engineering practices, and the quality of solutions delivered across different industries. Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable software solutions using Python and modern engineering practices.
• Build and integrate backend services using Python, JavaScript, SQL, and REST APIs.
• Design efficient database schemas, develop stored procedures, and optimize complex SQL queries for performance and scalability.
• Apply strong object-oriented programming principles and sound software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain cloud-based applications and services using AWS.
• Build, package, and deploy applications using Docker and modern containerization practices.
• Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to translate technical and business requirements into reliable solutions.
• Use GitHub or Bitbucket to manage source code, collaborate through version control workflows, and maintain high-quality development practices.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, troubleshooting, performance improvements, and continuous technical optimization.
• Apply clean-code principles and, where appropriate, SOLID design principles to create maintainable and extensible software.
• Work with modern technologies and frameworks as required, potentially including Pyramid, TypeScript, Snowflake, SQLAlchemy, Kubernetes, and OAuth 2.0.
• Participate in an agile, collaborative environment and contribute to knowledge sharing, technical discussions, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering with strong hands-on expertise in Python.
• Advanced proficiency in Python along with practical experience using JavaScript, SQL, and REST APIs.
• Strong SQL expertise, including database schema design, query performance tuning, and stored procedures.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services and Docker-based environments.
• Experience with GitHub, Bitbucket, or comparable source-control and collaborative development platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to diagnose technical issues and develop practical, scalable solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with distributed international teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a flexible, remote-first environment and manage responsibilities with a high degree of ownership.
• Experience with Pyramid, TypeScript, Snowflake, SQLAlchemy, Kubernetes, OAuth 2.0, SOLID principles, or VS Code is considered an advantage.
• Professional working proficiency in English and comfort collaborating across cultures and time zones.
