Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant based in Brazil.

This role is an opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional to play a key role during a period of financial growth and transformation.

You will serve as a senior accounting authority, applying deep US GAAP expertise and sound judgment to complex financial matters.

Your work will strengthen month-end close processes, balance sheet controls, audit readiness, and overall financial accuracy.

You will also contribute directly to a major accounting system migration and broader process improvement initiatives.

Rather than focusing primarily on transactional bookkeeping, you will provide high-level review, technical guidance, and controllership oversight.

The role requires someone who can identify risks, resolve discrepancies, improve controls, and communicate clearly with leadership and auditors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fully remote, transformation-focused environment.

Accountabilities

    • Oversee fixed asset and PPE accounting, including capitalization policies, asset disposals, impairment considerations, and the accuracy of the fixed asset register.
    • Review complex transactions, contracts, financing arrangements, and other accounting matters to determine appropriate treatment under US GAAP.
    • Serve as a senior technical review layer, identifying and resolving potential accounting issues before they become audit findings.
    • Strengthen month-end close processes by improving accrual methodologies, enforcing appropriate cut-off procedures, and reducing manual adjustments.
    • Establish and maintain rigorous balance sheet reconciliation standards, review controls, and clear ownership for key accounts.
    • Prepare detailed audit schedules, reports, supporting documentation, and technical accounting materials for management and external auditors.
    • Support a major accounting software migration by documenting existing processes, identifying control gaps, redesigning workflows, and ensuring accounting requirements are accurately reflected in the new system.
    • Assess financial risks, investigate discrepancies, and implement stronger internal controls designed to reduce errors and prevent fraud.
    • Partner with leadership to provide accounting expertise, technical guidance, and controllership oversight across the organization.
    • Educate relevant team members on accounting policies, procedures, and control requirements while supporting continuous process improvement.
    • Requirements

      • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Financial Auditor, Assistant Controller, or in a comparable senior accounting or controllership role.
      • Deep, hands-on knowledge of US GAAP, including complex accounting judgments and capitalization policies.
      • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and professional experience with QuickBooks Online.
      • Experience with NetSuite is preferred, along with the ability to navigate complex accounting systems and support software migrations.
      • Strong understanding of fixed assets, PPE accounting, accruals, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, audit preparation, and internal controls.
      • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information, investigate discrepancies, and make sound accounting decisions.
      • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly when reviewing financial records and preparing audit documentation.
      • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and changing timelines, and maintain high standards in a fully remote environment.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting policies clearly and present findings to leadership and external auditors.
      • A proactive, technically minded approach with the confidence to identify control weaknesses, recommend improvements, and take ownership of complex accounting challenges.
      • Benefits

        • Fully remote work environment.
        • Opportunity to take on a senior technical accounting role during a significant period of growth and transformation.
        • Exposure to complex US GAAP matters, audit activities, controllership, internal controls, and accounting system transformation.
        • Opportunity to contribute to a major software migration and redesign accounting workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy.
        • High level of ownership and direct collaboration with leadership.
        • Role focused on technical accounting, oversight, process improvement, and financial controls rather than high-volume transactional processing.
        • Opportunity to strengthen expertise in accounting systems, audit readiness, risk management, and financial process optimization.
