This is a senior backend engineering opportunity focused on building and scaling financial products that directly impact how people access credit. You will work closely with product and business teams, taking ownership from technical design through production and ongoing improvement. The role involves developing reliable APIs and backend systems that support high-volume, transaction-sensitive lending products. You will collaborate with product, credit, compliance, and analytics teams, ensuring technical decisions reflect both customer needs and regulatory requirements. Accountabilities:
- Build, maintain, and scale backend systems supporting salary advance, FGTS, and payroll-linked lending products, with a strong focus on reliability, correctness, and scalability.
- Design, develop, and continuously improve APIs that enable fast, secure, and seamless consumer-facing financial experiences.
- Develop and maintain integrations with payroll-linked, FGTS, and other financial systems where availability, accuracy, and resilience are critical.
- Take end-to-end ownership of backend initiatives, contributing from problem definition and technical design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate directly with product, credit, compliance, analytics, and other stakeholders to shape solutions and ensure technical decisions address business and customer needs.
- Contribute to code reviews, architectural and technical discussions, engineering standards, and best practices around software quality, security, and operational excellence.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, proactively identifying reliability issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Support the development of junior engineers through knowledge sharing, technical guidance, constructive feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Apply AI-powered development tools as part of the engineering workflow to improve productivity, development quality, and problem-solving efficiency.
- Contribute to a culture of ownership, continuous learning, high standards, and shared responsibility for technical outcomes.
- 4+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with a demonstrated history of owning meaningful technical projects and delivering production-grade solutions.
- Strong professional experience with Kotlin and/or Java.
- Solid knowledge of AWS, PostgreSQL, and ECS.
- Experience building and operating consumer-facing systems handling real-world transaction volumes.
- Strong understanding of backend engineering principles, including reliability, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, and transaction-sensitive systems where correctness and uptime are critical.
- Ability to collaborate closely with product, credit, compliance, analytics, and other multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluent Portuguese and advanced English (C1), with confidence communicating both verbally and in writing in an international environment.
- Comfortable using AI-powered development tools, such as Claude or similar solutions, as a genuine productivity and engineering capability.
- Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to make thoughtful technical decisions and follow work through to production.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to the development of other engineers.
