This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Cloud Applications Architect - AWS / .NET / Endur based in Brazil.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a major enterprise application migration and modernization program within the energy sector. You will work across two significant platforms, combining cloud architecture with hands-on engineering and modernization. The position covers the migration of Endur workloads to AWS and the transformation of a .NET platform into a more containerized, cloud-native environment. You will collaborate closely with architects, developers, infrastructure and security specialists, operations teams, and U.S.-based stakeholders. The role combines architecture, automation, troubleshooting, deployment engineering, and direct customer engagement. Success will depend on your ability to balance modern cloud architecture with practical migration constraints while maintaining a high level of technical ownership.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the migration of Endur workloads from legacy infrastructure to AWS, establishing repeatable and automated application installation and configuration processes.
- Design packaging, versioning, deployment, configuration, and rollback mechanisms for Endur .NET and JVS extensions.
- Define application deployment patterns across development, testing, staging, disaster recovery, and production environments.
- Identify application dependencies, connectivity requirements, configuration needs, and integration points while coordinating with infrastructure teams using Terraform.
- Lead modernization of the SQMD .NET platform, assessing legacy components and determining appropriate replatforming or refactoring strategies.
- Modernize .NET components while preserving business functionality and reducing infrastructure dependencies.
- Design and implement Docker-based containerization and deploy workloads using Amazon ECS, including services, task definitions, scaling, health checks, logging, secrets, and configuration management.
- Integrate container builds and deployments with automated CI/CD pipelines and support Amazon ECR lifecycle processes.
- Modernize application messaging using Amazon SQS and SNS, designing reliable asynchronous communication patterns and addressing retries, dead-letter queues, duplication, idempotency, ordering, recovery, and observability.
- Implement required authentication and authorization patterns while collaborating with security and identity teams to ensure secure application architecture.
- Establish automated build, packaging, configuration, promotion, deployment, rollback, monitoring, and recovery processes.
- Define target-state and transitional architectures, migration sequencing, cutover approaches, and technical risk mitigation strategies.
- Support migration rehearsals, testing, production cutovers, and post-migration stabilization.
- Troubleshoot complex issues spanning applications, infrastructure, networking, databases, messaging, and security.
- Participate in architecture sessions, technical workshops, design reviews, and engineering working sessions with AWS-focused and client teams.
- Translate architectural recommendations into practical engineering solutions and maintain clear documentation of technical decisions, assumptions, dependencies, and risks.
- Collaborate closely with cloud infrastructure architects to keep application and infrastructure designs aligned.
- 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, application architecture, or cloud application modernization.
- Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET, particularly within enterprise applications.
- Significant experience migrating or modernizing .NET applications on AWS.
- Strong AWS application architecture knowledge, particularly with Amazon ECS, ECR, SQS, SNS, IAM, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, EC2, and Application Load Balancing.
- Strong experience with Docker and containerized applications, including designing, deploying, and troubleshooting workloads on Amazon ECS.
- Solid understanding of event-driven and asynchronous application architectures and hands-on experience with SQS/SNS messaging patterns.
- Experience modernizing legacy enterprise .NET applications and designing automated application deployment pipelines.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities, including PowerShell or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, secure configuration, secrets management, and secure application architecture.
- Experience with application migration planning, testing, cutovers, rollback strategies, and production stabilization.
- Experience with ION/Openlink Endur is strongly preferred, particularly Endur installation, configuration, environment management, JVS and .NET extensions, packaging, deployment, and integration architecture.
- Candidates without direct Endur experience may also be considered if they demonstrate strong enterprise application modernization expertise and the ability to quickly understand complex platforms.
- Ability to read and understand existing application code, collaborate directly with developers, develop prototypes or reference implementations, troubleshoot deployments, and review code and deployment patterns.
- Strong ability to balance ideal cloud architectures with practical migration constraints.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with C1-level or equivalent business fluency strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with U.S.-based architects, engineers, product owners, project managers, and senior stakeholders.
- Professional presence during video meetings, architecture workshops, and technical presentations, including frequent camera-on interaction.
- Ability to explain complex architecture and application concepts to different audiences, present technical recommendations, facilitate discussions, and drive decisions.
- Strong listening, organizational, ownership, and accountability skills.
- AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certification is a plus.
- Previous experience working alongside AWS Professional Services is a plus.
- Experience migrating Windows/.NET workloads to AWS or modernizing .NET Framework applications to modern .NET is a plus.
- Experience with enterprise messaging, event-driven architectures, or distributed global engineering teams is a plus.
- Experience in energy, utilities, commodity trading, financial services, or other complex enterprise environments is a plus.
- Fully remote position based in Latin America.
- Opportunity to work on a large-scale cloud migration and modernization program within a complex enterprise environment.
- Significant overlap with U.S. working hours, with participation in architecture workshops, engineering sessions, migration activities, and production cutovers.
- Exposure to AWS cloud architecture, enterprise .NET modernization, Endur, SQMD, containerization, event-driven architectures, and modern DevOps practices.
- Collaboration with international engineering, architecture, security, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Hands-on technical leadership opportunity combining architecture, engineering, automation, and customer interaction.
Lead the application architecture and engineering activities required to migrate and modernize enterprise platforms on AWS, remaining hands-on throughout architecture, development, automation, deployment, and production stabilization.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines senior-level application architecture experience with strong hands-on .NET and AWS expertise, a practical modernization mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders in a customer-facing environment.
