Senior Data Scientist – Adversarial

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will investigate sophisticated attacks, analyze large-scale traffic data, and strengthen security detection capabilities.

You will work at the intersection of data science, threat analysis, application security, and product innovation.

The role combines deep technical investigation with hands-on development of detection improvements and analysis of emerging attack patterns.

You will collaborate closely with security operations, customer-facing teams, and fellow data scientists to translate complex findings into actionable solutions.

Your work will help improve detection accuracy, reduce false positives, and close evolving security gaps.

Accountabilities

• Lead investigations into complex false positives, false negatives, customer escalations, and other challenging security detection issues.
• Analyze large-scale traffic data, behavioral signals, request signatures, and security telemetry to identify suspicious patterns and detection gaps.
• Determine root causes and develop targeted improvements through rule tuning, threshold adjustments, and feature enhancements.
• Examine historical security cases to identify recurring issues, emerging attack techniques, and opportunities for improved detection.
• Develop and refine detection approaches for previously unmitigated, evolving, or sophisticated threats.
• Document investigation results, technical findings, and recommended actions through clear and actionable research tickets.
• Collaborate with professional services, security operations, account teams, and data science groups to resolve complex security challenges.
• Contribute insights from investigations to longer-term product strategy and security detection innovation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience, supported by a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience working with large datasets using Python and SQL; experience with Go is an advantage.
• Solid knowledge of statistics, probability, data analysis, machine learning, and clustering techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate complex technical problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Professional experience in areas such as bot detection, fraud prevention, account takeover, scraping detection, application security, or related security domains.
• Strong understanding of web and network technologies, including HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, TLS/SSL, and web application architectures.
• Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical findings clearly to both technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across data science, security, operations, customer-facing, and engineering teams.
