Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Global Director - Tax and Audit based in the United States.

This senior leadership role will oversee global tax and audit operations across a rapidly expanding multinational organization.

You will shape the global tax strategy while establishing scalable governance for compliance, statutory reporting, audits, and risk management.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of complex multinational tax, transfer pricing, and audit activities.

You will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, HR, Legal, IT, and regional teams to ensure accurate, timely, and defensible financial compliance.

You will also lead relationships with external tax advisors, audit firms, and local providers across multiple jurisdictions.

As the organization expands from 11 countries toward more than 20, you will build the processes, controls, calendars, and governance needed to support sustainable international growth.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced tax and audit leader who can balance technical excellence, business practicality, risk management, and operational efficiency.

Accountabilities

    • Develop and lead the global tax strategy covering corporate income tax, transfer pricing, VAT/GST, indirect taxes, withholding taxes, intercompany arrangements, entity structures, and tax-efficient international expansion.
    • Establish and maintain a comprehensive global tax compliance calendar covering income tax filings, statutory requirements, indirect tax returns, transfer pricing documentation, tax audits, and regulatory developments.
    • Lead relationships with global tax advisors, statutory audit firms, external audit partners, and local providers, ensuring high technical standards, appropriate resourcing, timely delivery, and cost-effective support.
    • Partner with Accounting and FP&A on tax provisions, cash tax forecasting, deferred tax analysis, uncertain tax positions, tax accounting, and board or investor reporting.
    • Own the global audit governance framework, including consolidated financial statement audits, country-level statutory audits, audit scope, fees, milestones, issue escalation, and timely issuance of audited financial statements.
    • Coordinate statutory audit activities across required jurisdictions, working with local finance teams, accounting functions, auditors, and external advisors to ensure statutory accounts are prepared, approved, filed, and issued on schedule.
    • Maintain an integrated audit and statutory compliance calendar covering audit planning, interim procedures, year-end fieldwork, supporting schedules, statutory accounts, approvals, filings, management representation letters, benefit plan audits, audit committee materials, and management letter follow-up.
    • Drive audit readiness by coordinating reconciliations, supporting documentation, tie-outs, variance explanations, legal entity financial statements, consolidation support, tax provision materials, and responses to auditor requests across multiple functions.
    • Oversee U.S. benefit plan audits in partnership with HR, plan administrators, trustees, recordkeepers, third-party administrators, and external auditors.
    • Monitor audit findings, control deficiencies, management letter observations, statutory filing issues, benefit plan recommendations, and remediation commitments, ensuring clear ownership and timely resolution.
    • Lead tax and audit workstreams associated with acquisitions, including diligence support, purchase accounting inputs, structural reviews, integration planning, inherited tax exposure assessments, and Day 1 compliance readiness.
    • Design and monitor internal controls over financial reporting, including segregation of duties, approval processes, reconciliations, manual journal entries, and close certifications.
    • Develop and defend global transfer pricing policies, intercompany agreements, service fee frameworks, management charge models, and related documentation.
    • Advise business leadership on tax implications of new-country expansion, customer contracts, cross-border workforce deployment, permanent establishment exposure, payroll tax coordination, and entity rationalization.
    • Build scalable tax controls, documentation standards, escalation procedures, and governance processes suitable for a growing multinational organization.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Business, or a related field.
      • CPA, JD, LLM in Tax, Chartered Tax Advisor, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred.
      • 10+ years of progressive experience across tax, audit, controllership, statutory reporting, financial compliance, or related disciplines.
      • Extensive experience with multinational corporate tax, transfer pricing, indirect taxation, tax compliance, external audit coordination, statutory audit management, and external advisor oversight.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead tax and audit activities across multiple countries and jurisdictions.
      • Strong knowledge of global tax and statutory reporting requirements, with the ability to develop practical, defensible compliance strategies.
      • Experience supporting acquisitions, international expansion, professional services or project-based business models, and multi-country financial operations is highly desirable.
      • Previous exposure to audit committee reporting, management letter remediation, U.S. benefit plan audits, and coordination of multiple external audit firms is preferred.
      • Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, risk management, and financial reporting processes.
      • Exceptional stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, finance leaders, external advisors, auditors, and local teams.
      • Strategic thinker who can balance technical tax and audit requirements with commercial priorities and operational realities.
      • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage complex global calendars, deadlines, projects, and competing priorities.
      • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to identify risks, challenge assumptions, and drive resolution.
      • Experience building scalable processes and governance frameworks within a growing or changing multinational organization.
      • Benefits

        • Annual base salary of $165,000-$185,000, excluding benefits.
        • Senior leadership position with significant global scope and strategic influence.
        • Opportunity to build and scale tax and audit governance across a growing multinational organization.
        • Remote working environment.
        • Exposure to complex international tax, audit, acquisition, and expansion initiatives.
        • Opportunity to collaborate with senior Finance leadership, external advisors, auditors, and cross-functional teams worldwide.
        • Inclusive and diverse working environment.
        • Strong emphasis on integrity, professional excellence, and continuous improvement.
        • Opportunity to contribute to the growth and evolution of a global professional services organization.
        • Veteran-friendly and equal opportunity workplace.
