This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (AI-Native) - Healthcare Platform based in India.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help shape and scale a modern healthcare technology platform serving complex clinical and operational workflows. You will work across the full stack, taking ownership of critical systems spanning billing, claims, healthcare integrations, frontend experiences, and clinical workflows. This is a high-autonomy role where you are expected to identify what needs to be built, make strong architectural decisions, and deliver production-ready solutions without waiting for detailed task assignments. You will work closely with senior technical and business leadership while rapidly developing expertise in healthcare technology and regulatory requirements. AI-assisted development is deeply embedded in the engineering culture, enabling the team to move quickly while maintaining high standards for quality and maintainability. Within your first few months, you will progressively move from learning the platform to owning major subsystems and contributing to its broader architecture.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production-grade full-stack SaaS applications and platform capabilities.
- Take end-to-end ownership of major application subsystems, progressing quickly from onboarding and knowledge transfer to independent ownership and architectural responsibility.
- Build scalable frontend experiences using TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with attention to server-side rendering, routing, API integration, performance, and maintainability.
- Develop robust Node.js backend services, including REST APIs, authentication, middleware, error handling, integrations, and background processing.
- Design and maintain PostgreSQL databases using Prisma, including schema design, migrations, relationship modeling, and query optimization.
- Contribute to complex healthcare platform capabilities such as billing, claims processing, clinical workflows, EHR/FHIR integrations, and care coordination.
- Design reliable APIs, system integrations, and real-time capabilities using appropriate technologies and architectural patterns.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and make informed decisions about when to refactor, optimize, or ship.
- Drive application performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability across the platform.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent technologies as an integral part of the software development workflow.
- Apply engineering judgment to validate AI-generated output, maintain code quality, and ensure solutions meet architectural and business requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer and Founder-CEO to shape architecture, technical priorities, and new product development.
- Document technical decisions, architecture, implementation details, and operational knowledge through clear documentation, pull requests, and technical decision records.
- Contribute to engineering practices around Git, branching, code review, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Work proactively in an ambiguous startup environment, identifying opportunities and delivering outcomes without requiring detailed supervision.
- 4-8 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping and supporting production SaaS applications.
- Strong TypeScript expertise, including generics, utility types, strict mode, discriminated unions, and modern TypeScript development practices.
- Production experience with React and Next.js, including SSR, API routes, dynamic routing, application performance, and scalable frontend architecture.
- Strong Node.js backend development skills, including REST APIs, authentication, middleware, error handling, and background job management.
- Hands-on experience with Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL, including database schema design, migrations, relation modeling, and query optimization.
- Strong Git expertise, including branching strategies, pull request workflows, rebasing, clean commit practices, and maintaining an understandable project history.
- Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent tools on a daily basis, with the ability to explain how AI has materially improved your engineering workflow.
- Strong architectural thinking, with the ability to design maintainable systems rather than focusing solely on individual code changes.
- Self-motivated and highly autonomous working style, with the ability to identify priorities, define solutions, and execute without waiting for detailed task assignments.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, particularly for asynchronous collaboration, technical documentation, pull requests, and technical decision records.
- Experience with healthcare SaaS, billing, EHR systems, clinical workflows, or HIPAA compliance is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7 is a strong advantage.
- Experience with Server-Sent Events (SSE), WebSockets, or other real-time application architectures is desirable.
- Understanding of multi-tenant SaaS security concepts such as RBAC, row-level security, and tenant isolation is highly valuable.
- Experience with Azure services such as App Service, Azure SQL, or Blob Storage is an advantage.
- Familiarity with behavioral health, medical billing, CPT, ICD-10, or healthcare revenue-cycle processes is a plus.
- Experience integrating AI/ML pipelines into software products is beneficial.
- Comfortable working in small, fast-moving startup environments where priorities can change and engineers take on broad responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly absorb complex domain knowledge from subject matter experts and translate it into effective technical solutions.
- Availability for approximately 4-8 hours of daily overlap with the US Pacific time zone, typically around 2 PM-12 AM IST or a similar schedule, with flexibility to organize focused work around collaboration needs.
- ₹20-40 LPA compensation range, with higher compensation possible for exceptional candidates based on skills and experience.
- Fully remote work from anywhere in India.
- Equipment allowance to support an effective remote working environment.
- Dedicated learning and development budget for tools, courses, conferences, and professional growth.
- Direct collaboration with senior technical and business leadership, with minimal organizational layers.
- Strong autonomy and ownership, with the opportunity to take responsibility for important platform subsystems early in your tenure.
- AI-first engineering environment where developers are encouraged to use modern AI tools to improve productivity and accelerate delivery.
- Opportunity to work on meaningful healthcare technology spanning clinical workflows, billing, claims, integrations, and patient-facing capabilities.
- Rapid progression from learning and contributing to becoming a subsystem owner and architectural contributor.
- Exposure to complex healthcare technology, regulatory requirements, and modern SaaS architecture.
- Remote-first culture focused on outcomes, deep work, engineering quality, and effective collaboration rather than rigid timekeeping.
