Senior Software Engineer ETRM

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer ETRM based in India.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help build and evolve next-generation Energy Trading and Risk Management software used by power and gas trading organizations across Europe. You will work within a small, innovative engineering team using a modern Microsoft technology stack. The role combines hands-on software development with technical design, testing, maintenance, and continuous improvement. You will contribute to solutions supporting complex energy markets shaped by decarbonization, changing regulations, and increasing market volatility. You will have opportunities to work with cloud technologies, APIs, distributed systems, and modern software engineering practices. Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software using C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core/.NET 6/7, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Translate business and technical requirements into well-structured software designs, user stories, and production-ready code.
• Develop high-quality applications using Test-Driven Development and ensure solutions meet agreed acceptance criteria.
• Create, document, and execute unit test plans and automated test scripts.
• Diagnose and resolve software defects and perform maintenance programming to ensure system reliability.
• Follow established Continuous Integration and deployment practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Use Git and established source-control practices to maintain code quality and collaboration.
• Conduct and participate in peer code reviews, including final-level reviews of development work.
• Contribute proactively to technical solution design, from high-level architecture through detailed implementation.
• Identify opportunities to improve applications, development processes, performance, and maintainability.
• Help reduce technical debt by identifying areas for refactoring and implementing sustainable engineering improvements.
• Develop and maintain appropriate technical and product documentation, including release notes and supporting development documentation.
• Collaborate with team members using Agile methodologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor, coach, and share knowledge with other engineers to strengthen team capability and engineering standards.
• Contribute to the evolution of the platform and future integration with cloud-native algorithmic power trading solutions.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience in software engineering, with proven ownership of software development projects and technical solutions.
• Strong proficiency in C# and experience with Microsoft .NET Framework and/or .NET Core/.NET 6/7.
• Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database development.
• Good understanding of application security principles and secure software development practices.
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, testing, debugging, source control, and continuous integration.
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies and translating requirements into technical solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret written requirements and technical specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and delivering effective solutions.
• Commitment to producing high-quality, maintainable software for demanding business environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and support team development.
• Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for mentoring, teaching, and coaching colleagues.
• Willingness to continuously learn and keep current with evolving technologies and language versions.
• Experience with Azure is an advantage.
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as ZeroMQ is a plus.
• Experience with Angular, TypeScript, or other modern web UI technologies is desirable.
• Experience with Entity Framework and/or Entity Framework Core is beneficial.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture is a plus.
• Experience developing commodity or energy trading systems is highly desirable.
