Software Engineer, Mobile

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Mobile based in Canada.

This is an opportunity to own the mobile experience of an AI agent from end to end, across both iOS and Android.

You’ll shape how users interact with an intelligent assistant through polished, responsive, and reliable mobile experiences.

The role spans native development, cross-platform architecture, backend APIs, testing, and production releases.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Research, and AI teams to turn emerging capabilities into intuitive mobile features.

You’ll have meaningful influence over technical decisions, including where native and cross-platform approaches make the most sense.

Your work will directly affect how the product performs in real-world conditions, including connectivity, battery, and device constraints.

This is a fast-moving environment where engineers are expected to take ownership, iterate quickly, and maintain a high product bar.

Accountabilities

• Build, ship, and own production mobile applications across iOS and Android, from user interfaces through the APIs and services that power them.
• Deliver native-quality experiences with smooth interactions, offline resilience, push notifications, and responsible battery and data consumption.
• Work across the mobile stack using Swift and/or Kotlin where native capabilities are important, while leveraging React Native or a similar cross-platform framework where appropriate.
• Help define the technical strategy for balancing native and cross-platform development across the mobile product.
• Partner closely with Product and Design to translate ideas into polished mobile features and continuously improve them using real-world usage data.
• Manage mobile release operations, including app-store submissions, review processes, versioning, release pipelines, and staged rollouts.
• Maintain a consistent product experience across mobile, desktop, and web while preserving the strengths and conventions of each platform.
• Build and maintain automated testing to ensure reliable releases across devices, operating systems, and application versions.
• Collaborate with Research and AI teams to integrate new model capabilities and agent functionality into the mobile experience.
• Contribute to backend APIs and services when needed to ensure mobile features have the reliable infrastructure and performance they require.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on mobile development.
• Proven experience shipping and maintaining production iOS and/or Android applications used by real customers.
• Strong proficiency in native mobile development with Swift, Kotlin, or both.
• Practical experience with a cross-platform framework such as React Native and the ability to determine when cross-platform versus native implementation is appropriate.
• Solid understanding of backend services and APIs, with the ability to build the endpoints and supporting functionality required by mobile applications rather than simply consuming existing APIs.
• Experience with TypeScript/Node.js or Python is a plus.
• Strong product intuition and a high standard for mobile usability, visual quality, responsiveness, and overall user experience.
• Ability to own features end-to-end, make sound technical decisions, and operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with Product, Design, Research, and AI teams.
• Experience with app-store submission, review, and release management across iOS and Android is preferred.
• Familiarity with offline-first architecture, local storage, synchronization, and mobile reliability patterns is an advantage.
• Interest in AI agents and open-source software, with hands-on experience using AI products or agent technologies considered a plus.
• Experience integrating LLM or streaming APIs into mobile applications is an advantage.
