Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Manager, Global Payroll & HRIS based in United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity overseeing global payroll and HRIS operations, with a primary focus on U.S. payroll. You will own complex payroll processes, ensure tax and regulatory compliance, and strengthen operational accuracy across multiple jurisdictions. The role combines hands-on payroll expertise with strategic process design, data analysis, and cross-functional leadership. You will work closely with Finance, Accounting, HR Business Partners, Compensation, Benefits, and Treasury to build scalable and accountable processes. You will also lead HRIS data integrity, reporting, analytics, and AI-enabled process improvements. This role is well suited to an experienced payroll leader who can operate strategically while maintaining a strong focus on detail, compliance, and execution.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead and oversee U.S. payroll operations, including regular bi-weekly payrolls, off-cycle payments, incentive payrolls, severance, spot bonuses, and COBRA reimbursements.
    • Maintain deep expertise in U.S. payroll tax requirements and ensure accurate and compliant payroll practices across all applicable tax jurisdictions.
    • Partner with Benefits teams to process life-event changes affecting employee contributions and benefit eligibility, while overseeing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
    • Validate hours worked, time-card approvals, payroll inputs, and outputs, and prepare and validate W-2s and annual and quarterly tax filings in partnership with ADP.
    • Manage unemployment insurance claims, wage validation requests, wage garnishments, and other payroll-related employee or regulatory matters.
    • Use advanced Excel capabilities to analyze, reconcile, troubleshoot, and manage large and complex payroll datasets with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Build scalable payroll processes and strengthen accountability through close partnership with Finance, Accounting, HR Business Partners, Compensation, Treasury, and other key stakeholders.
    • Maintain compliance with local payroll practices across EU markets, including the UK, Germany, Italy, and France under PEO models, as well as Moldova, Serbia, and China.
    • Lead HRIS data integrity, process flows, and reporting, while leveraging AI to scale HR processes and develop executive dashboards, analytics, and actionable insights.
    • Requirements:

      • Bring 8+ years of professional experience with significant senior leadership responsibility and a demonstrated ability to lead a major function or department.
      • Have strong expertise in payroll operations and U.S. payroll tax compliance, combined with the ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional payroll environments.
      • Demonstrate strategic planning and long-range execution skills, with the ability to translate organizational priorities into scalable operational processes.
      • Possess strong financial and operational management capabilities, including the ability to work confidently with complex datasets and make data-informed decisions.
      • Have experience developing leaders, building high-performing teams, and supporting succession planning for critical functions.
      • Demonstrate strong executive-level presentation, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills across Finance, HR, Accounting, Compensation, Treasury, and other senior functions.
      • Bring advanced Excel and analytical capabilities, with the ability to investigate payroll data, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.
      • Be highly organized, detail-oriented, accountable, and comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on operational execution.
      • Benefits:

        • Annual base salary of $130,000-$160,000 USD, with actual compensation determined by experience, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.
        • Eligibility for additional annual bonus compensation through an incentive plan.
        • Flexible Paid Time Off, along with paid holidays and floating holidays.
        • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus FSA and HSA options with employer contributions, life insurance, and pet insurance.
        • 401(k) plan with employer matching.
        • Up to two paid days off each year to volunteer with a 501(c) organization.
        • Paid parental leave to support employees and growing families.
        • Company-subsidized memberships to Wellhub and Peloton.
        • Access to Carrot, a fertility and family-building information and support platform.
        • Fully remote opportunity within the United States, offering the flexibility to contribute in a distributed work environment.
