Accountabilities:
The Sr. Software Engineer - Search will own the design, development, and evolution of search and knowledge graph platforms while driving technical excellence, scalability, and reliability. The role requires hands-on engineering expertise, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to lead complex initiatives from concept through production.
- Own the complete lifecycle of platform features, including problem definition, schema modeling, development, deployment, version management, and future deprecation planning.
- Lead the evolution of search and knowledge graph platforms by improving architecture, reducing redundancy, optimizing payloads, and enhancing usability.
- Design and develop scalable search solutions that support customer-facing applications and large healthcare data ecosystems.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and transformation workflows that enable accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information delivery.
- Define and implement scalable integration patterns for internal and external data exchange.
- Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, observability, and scalability as platform complexity and data volumes grow.
- Troubleshoot complex application and data issues while establishing engineering best practices around testing, monitoring, and data quality.
- Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and well-defined development plans.
- Create technical design documentation and contribute to architecture decisions across engineering teams.
- Mentor other engineers and help raise technical standards through knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Apply AI-first development practices and modern AI coding tools to improve engineering efficiency and software quality.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have strong experience building distributed systems, search platforms, and data-driven applications. They should be comfortable leading technical initiatives while remaining hands-on with software development and problem-solving.
- Strong programming skills in Python or Node.js for building high-availability backend systems.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and operating data systems and pipelines at scale.
- Deep experience designing and evolving search platforms, including architecture, performance optimization, versioning, pagination, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with Elasticsearch and search platform development.
- Experience working with knowledge graph platforms or complex relationship-based data models is highly valuable.
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar infrastructure technologies.
- Strong knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL and experience designing efficient data storage solutions.
- Experience with Git, Jira, and CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI.
- Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and drive effective solutions.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and scalable architecture.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.
- Experience with healthcare data, ETL workflows, or customer-facing data platforms is a plus.
