Staff Full Stack Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer based in the United States.

This is a high-impact, full-stack engineering role for a senior technical leader who enjoys owning problems from initial discovery through production.

You’ll work across a modern Python/Django backend and React/TypeScript frontend, turning ambiguous customer and operational needs into reliable products.

The role offers substantial autonomy within a lean engineering environment where engineers are accountable for outcomes, not simply tickets.

You’ll influence architecture, data models, APIs, integrations, testing, security, and production operations across meaningful initiatives.

AI is embedded into the engineering workflow, giving you the opportunity to accelerate investigation, development, testing, debugging, and review.

You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, Operations, and other stakeholders while maintaining strong technical ownership.

Accountabilities:

• Own full-stack product and operational initiatives from problem framing and planning through implementation, launch, and production validation.
• Translate ambiguous business and customer needs into practical technical plans, milestones, and shippable increments.
• Design, build, and maintain reliable applications across Python/Django backend services and React/TypeScript frontend experiences.
• Make thoughtful architectural decisions spanning data models, APIs, integrations, testing, security, failure handling, and production operations.
• Use AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle to increase speed, quality, and engineering scope while maintaining accountability for the resulting work.
• Rigorously validate AI-assisted output and apply engineering judgment when automated approaches are insufficient.
• Partner directly with Product, Design, Operations, and other stakeholders to understand underlying problems and define measurable outcomes.
• Communicate project progress, technical decisions, risks, dependencies, and blockers clearly and proactively.
• Diagnose production incidents using logs, metrics, traces, profiling, and other operational evidence; restore service responsibly and implement improvements that prevent recurrence.
• Improve engineering systems, tooling, automation, and development practices to help the broader team work more effectively.
• Contribute to scalable solutions involving integrations, asynchronous processing, third-party services, workflows, and other complex production systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of meaningful production outcomes.
• Strong backend development expertise with Python and Django.
• Proven experience building user-facing applications with React and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs, relational data models, and third-party services.
• Strong understanding of automated testing, security, data integrity, failure handling, maintainable software design, and production reliability.
• Experience diagnosing production behavior through logs, metrics, traces, profiling, and other operational signals.
• Meaningful professional experience incorporating AI tools into engineering workflows, with the ability to assess and validate AI-generated work critically.
• Ability to explain technical decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and measurable results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in a remote and cross-functional environment.
• Experience working in lean product organizations with significant engineering autonomy is highly valuable.
• Experience with marketplaces, matching, routing, lead management, workflow automation, or other multi-sided products is a plus.
• Familiarity with integration-heavy systems involving CRMs, communications platforms, webhooks, asynchronous jobs, or third-party APIs is preferred.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and background-processing technologies such as Celery is advantageous.
• Experience delivering complete features across backend and frontend systems, as well as handling incidents, migrations, concurrency, and data-quality challenges, is a strong plus.
• Experience transforming successful AI workflows into reusable automation, tooling, or team practices is desirable.
