Staff Fullstack Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer based in Canada.

This is an early, high-impact engineering opportunity within a growing AI-native fintech SaaS environment.

You’ll work closely with executive leadership to shape the architecture and technical direction of a core platform.

The role combines hands-on full-stack development with system design, engineering standards, and technical leadership.

You’ll own complex features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through testing and production delivery.

Your work will directly influence a platform relied upon by thousands of finance professionals and teams.

You’ll also help establish engineering practices and culture as the organization scales.

The environment is fully remote and distributed across Canada, the US, and LATAM, with a strong emphasis on ownership and collaboration.

Accountabilities

• Partner with executive leadership and engineering teammates to prioritize initiatives, shape the product roadmap, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and own complex software features and platform components across the frontend and backend.
• Lead architectural decisions and establish technical direction for systems that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
• Deliver high-quality code across the full stack, with strong attention to performance, security, reliability, and testing.
• Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, development practices, and technical processes that support a high-performing engineering organization.
• Collaborate closely with Design and Operations teams to improve product functionality, usability, and overall customer outcomes.
• Mentor engineers, share technical expertise, and contribute to an engineering culture built around ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years contributing to system design, architecture, or technical direction.
• Strong full-stack development experience with TypeScript/JavaScript on the frontend and Node.js on the backend, with flexibility to take on a frontend-heavy focus.
• Strong proficiency with React and modern frontend development practices.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery, including designing and operating scalable cloud services and data solutions.
• Proven experience modeling, querying, and optimizing MongoDB schemas and workloads at scale.
• Strong testing discipline across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with a focus on building reliable production software.
• Demonstrated ability to lead platform architecture decisions, establish technical direction, and mentor other engineers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Comfortable working autonomously in a fully distributed remote environment spanning Canada, the US, and LATAM.

Benefits

• Competitive annual salary of US$185,000-$240,000.
