Staff Product Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Designer based in India.

This is a high-impact product design leadership opportunity focused on creating intuitive, accessible, and scalable experiences for financial products. You will own design initiatives from discovery and research through interaction design, prototyping, visual execution, and implementation. The role combines strategic thinking with deep hands-on UX/UI craft, giving you the opportunity to shape products used by millions of people. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to turn complex financial needs into simple, effective experiences. You will also influence design systems, accessibility standards, experimentation, and data-informed product decisions. As a senior design leader, you will mentor other designers and help raise the quality and consistency of product design across the organisation. This role is well suited to a designer who thrives in fast-paced product environments and wants their work to have measurable user and business impact.

Accountabilities

• Define and execute product design strategies that balance user needs, business objectives, and measurable product outcomes.
• Lead the end-to-end design process, from discovery, research, and problem definition through wireframing, prototyping, visual design, and final implementation.
• Conduct advanced user research, interviews, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and A/B experiments to validate and refine design solutions.
• Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into clear design decisions that improve usability, engagement, and business performance.
• Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented to a high standard.
• Design scalable UI components and contribute to the evolution of a robust, reusable design system.
• Champion accessibility (A11y) and inclusive design principles across products and experiences.
• Create thoughtful micro-interactions and motion experiences that improve usability, clarity, and user engagement.
• Use product and UX analytics to identify opportunities, evaluate outcomes, and continuously improve the user experience.
• Mentor and guide junior designers while contributing to a culture of design excellence, experimentation, and innovation.
• Stay current with fintech, SaaS, UX, interaction design, and product trends to identify opportunities for product innovation.
• Clearly articulate design rationale, communicate trade-offs, and influence stakeholders across product, engineering, and business teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a senior product design role, with a strong UX focus and a demonstrated track record of leading impactful product initiatives.
• Advanced visual design skills, including strong command of typography, grids, layouts, colour theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Deep expertise in interaction design, information architecture, user flows, and UX strategy.
• Strong experience designing for both mobile and web platforms, including responsive and adaptive experiences.
• Solid understanding of behavioural psychology and how user behaviour influences product adoption and decision-making.
• Extensive experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and other research activities.
• Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative research into actionable, high-impact design decisions.
• Familiarity with UX and product analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Hotjar, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of atomic design principles and experience creating scalable UI frameworks and design systems.
• Experience with motion design and tools such as Lottie, After Effects, or Principle.
• Proven experience mentoring and developing junior designers.
• Ability to present design concepts, explain design rationale, and influence senior stakeholders effectively.
• Comfortable working in agile, fast-paced, cross-functional product teams.
• Advanced Figma expertise, including Auto Layout, design tokens, component variants, interactive prototypes, and scalable design libraries.
• Experience working in fintech and/or SaaS, with a strong understanding of relevant customer needs, industry challenges, and user behaviours.
• A strong portfolio featuring end-to-end UX case studies that demonstrate research, problem-solving, design craft, measurable impact, and leadership.
