This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Visual Product Designer, Design Systems based in United States.
The Staff Visual Product Designer, Design Systems will shape the visual language and interaction foundations of a complex, enterprise-focused digital product. This role combines exceptional visual craft with systems thinking, product judgment, and strong cross-functional influence. You will define scalable patterns that help product teams move faster while maintaining consistency, accessibility, usability, and a high bar for design quality. Working closely with designers, engineers, researchers, content specialists, and brand partners, you will bring clarity to data-rich workflows and sophisticated customer experiences. You will also help evolve the design system for emerging needs such as AI-powered experiences, automation, personalization, and increasingly complex enterprise workflows. This is a highly influential individual contributor role with opportunities to mentor designers and shape product strategy across the organization.
Accountabilities:
- Define and evolve the visual design language across product surfaces, establishing a cohesive, distinctive, accessible, and scalable experience while setting a high bar for typography, color, composition, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, data visualization, and interaction details.
- Own and evolve foundational design system elements, including design tokens, component visual states, responsive behaviors, theming, density, and platform-specific adaptations, ensuring that the system remains flexible enough to support diverse customer workflows.
- Create reusable patterns, principles, standards, and guidance that enable product teams to solve recurring problems consistently while preserving appropriate flexibility for different products, users, and use cases.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Content Design, Brand, and Design Systems teams to translate customer needs, business objectives, and technical constraints into effective system-level solutions.
- Design and prototype system components as well as end-to-end product experiences, using high-fidelity exploration to communicate design intent, accelerate alignment, and resolve complex visual and interaction challenges.
- Bring strong visual hierarchy and clarity to complex, data-rich workflows used by security, compliance, IT, legal, finance, and business stakeholders, making sophisticated information easier to understand and act upon.
- Collaborate with engineers throughout the implementation process to ensure designs achieve a high level of visual fidelity while meeting accessibility, performance, scalability, and maintainability requirements.
- Establish design review practices, facilitate critiques and workshops, and represent design systems in product planning and cross-functional forums to improve consistency and strengthen product decisions across teams.
- Advocate for inclusive and accessible visual design, ensuring that color, contrast, typography, motion, interaction states, and other visual elements work effectively for a broad range of users and contexts.
- Help determine how the design system should evolve to support emerging product capabilities, including AI-powered experiences, personalization, automation, and increasingly sophisticated enterprise workflows.
- Use customer research, product data, usability feedback, competitive insights, and other evidence to identify opportunities for improving the design system and measuring its broader impact.
- Influence product strategy and roadmap decisions through compelling design narratives, prototypes, strong points of view, and the ability to connect visual and systems-level decisions to customer and business outcomes.
- Mentor product designers and contribute to a culture of thoughtful critique, continuous learning, experimentation, and customer-focused design excellence.
- Create documentation, examples, and enablement materials that make the design system easy for product teams to understand, adopt, extend, and apply consistently.
- Define and measure design system impact through indicators such as adoption, consistency, accessibility, usability, delivery efficiency, and customer outcomes.
- 8+ years of experience designing digital products, including significant experience in visual product design for complex B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or similarly sophisticated digital environments.
- Deep expertise in visual design for digital products, with strong command of typography, color, composition, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, interaction states, data visualization, and visual hierarchy.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual craft, sophisticated systems thinking, and the ability to improve experiences at both the individual component and end-to-end workflow levels.
- Proven experience creating, evolving, and scaling product design systems that are adopted and used by multiple product and engineering teams within a growing organization.
- Strong understanding of design tokens, component architecture, responsive design, accessibility, and the relationship between design tools and front-end implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to transform ambiguous product and customer problems into clear, elegant, reusable visual solutions while balancing consistency, flexibility, usability, and technical feasibility.
- Experience partnering closely with engineers to bring detailed visual designs into production and make pragmatic decisions when implementation constraints or competing priorities arise.
- Strong product thinking, with the ability to understand customer needs, business objectives, technical constraints, and the broader relationships between product surfaces, workflows, and system patterns.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the ability to align senior product and engineering stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
- Demonstrated ability to determine when to use an existing design pattern, when to extend it, and when to introduce something new based on user needs, product strategy, and system-level considerations.
- Experience giving and receiving thoughtful feedback, mentoring other designers, facilitating productive critique, and raising the overall visual and product quality bar across a design organization.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, making decisions with incomplete information, balancing strategic thinking with execution, and maintaining a strong bias toward action.
- Experience designing products in cybersecurity, compliance, GRC, IT, infrastructure, financial services, or another complex or regulated domain is a plus.
- Proficiency with tools such as Figma and familiarity with front-end technologies or design system implementation workflows are valuable.
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer sponsorship.
- Demonstrated responsibility for protecting company and customer data through secure and thoughtful design and working practices.
- Comfortable using AI to amplify design capabilities and improve efficiency, with curiosity about emerging tools, willingness to learn, and sound judgment around responsible AI adoption.
- Industry-competitive salary and equity opportunities, with U.S. base pay determined according to role level, function, location, skills, experience, and relevant credentials.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only premiums covered for most medical plans.
- 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents.
- Health and wellness stipend to support employee well-being.
- Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipends to support effective remote work.
- Commuter benefits for employees who work from designated offices.
- Family planning benefits.
- 401(k) matching contributions with immediate vesting.
- Flexible PTO policy plus 80 hours of paid sick time and 11 company-paid holidays.
- Remote-friendly work environment with access to offices in San Francisco, New York City, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney.
- Virtual team-building activities, lunch-and-learn sessions, and company-wide events that support connection and collaboration.
- Opportunity to shape a high-impact design system, influence product strategy, and establish visual standards across a sophisticated enterprise product environment.
- Significant cross-functional exposure and opportunities to mentor designers while contributing to a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and high-quality product craft.
