Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tech Lead based in Spain.

This is a high-impact technical leadership role within a mission-driven education technology environment focused on making quality learning more accessible. You will combine hands-on engineering with technical direction, people leadership, and close product collaboration. You’ll help shape scalable systems, influence architecture decisions, and set high standards for engineering quality and delivery. Working with a globally distributed team, you’ll mentor engineers while partnering closely with product, design, data, and AI specialists. The role offers meaningful influence over both the technology and the team as the organization scales. It’s an opportunity to build products that directly affect learners while helping establish the technical foundations for the next stage of growth.

Accountabilities

    • Lead and mentor a globally distributed engineering team, fostering a high-performing, inclusive, collaborative, and feedback-driven culture.
    • Provide hands-on technical leadership through coding, pair programming, peer reviews, architecture design, and technical decision-making.
    • Establish and maintain high standards across software architecture, testing, CI/CD, code quality, reliability, and engineering best practices.
    • Promote a DevOps mindset in which engineers take ownership of their work throughout the full development lifecycle, from design through deployment and ongoing operation.
    • Architect and deliver scalable, maintainable systems and user-facing features with measurable impact on learners.
    • Work with AI specialists to incorporate adaptive and personalized learning capabilities into the platform.
    • Partner closely with product, design, and data teams to define scope, prioritize effectively, shape the roadmap, and align technical delivery with product outcomes.
    • Support engineers through regular 1:1s, career development conversations, coaching, and constructive feedback.
    • Continuously improve engineering practices, delivery speed, reliability, team workflows, and technical decision-making.
    • Help shape the technology organization as it scales, contributing to how teams, systems, and engineering processes evolve.
    • Requirements

      • 8+ years of commercial software engineering experience, ideally gained in product-led, fast-paced environments.
      • Proven experience leading engineering teams, major technical initiatives, or complex software projects.
      • Strong software architecture expertise, including API-first approaches, modular design, asynchronous communication patterns, and scalable system design.
      • Deep backend engineering experience combined with the ability to navigate modern frontend technologies; experience with React.js is preferred.
      • A strong AI-first mindset, with practical experience using LLMs and agentic AI tools as part of your everyday engineering workflow.
      • Experience building and shipping user-facing products that are performant, reliable, maintainable, and thoughtfully engineered.
      • Hands-on experience with Docker-based and cloud-native environments, ideally including AWS.
      • Strong understanding of Agile and Lean principles, with a focus on delivering customer value incrementally rather than simply following ceremonies and processes.
      • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, design, data, and other disciplines.
      • Comfortable working with globally distributed teams and across different time zones.
      • A collaborative, growth-oriented mindset and willingness to challenge assumptions, learn from feedback, and continuously raise engineering standards.
      • Benefits

        • Flexible working hours with a remote-first working environment.
        • Competitive compensation with significant bonus upside.
        • Access to the latest AI tools and productivity software.
        • Opportunity to work with a global, mission-driven team spanning multiple countries and perspectives.
        • The chance to make a tangible impact on the future of education and the learning experience of students.
        • A fast-paced, high-growth environment offering significant ownership and opportunities for professional development.
        • A collaborative and supportive culture that values integrity, continuous improvement, open feedback, and teamwork.
        • An inclusive workplace that welcomes people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
