You will work across the full software testing lifecycle, from test planning and data preparation through execution, defect management, and regression testing.
The position combines hands-on testing with automation, technical analysis, and collaboration across business and engineering teams.
You will serve as a functional testing subject matter expert while helping improve testing approaches, tools, documentation, and delivery practices.

Accountabilities
- Develop functional testing scenarios, detailed test cases, test data, procedures, and testing scripts based on functional and technical specifications.
- Create, review, and maintain comprehensive test plans while defining the level of effort required for test case development.
- Execute functional, regression, integration, and other software tests; coordinate testing activities, document results, and validate defects.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts and support the use of software testing and test automation tools.
- Test multiple application layers, including web interfaces, service layers, data migration, integration layers, databases, and performance components.
- Manage testing schedules, deadlines, progress, risks, issues, and deliverables while maintaining appropriate testing documentation and DSTRs.
- Serve as a functional testing subject matter expert and provide guidance to other test engineers and project team members.
- Assist test leads and managers in defining and refining testing methodologies, tools, automation strategies, and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with federal and contractor functional leads to clarify requirements, business scenarios, and expected outcomes.
- Support Federal and contractor teams during User Acceptance Testing and respond to developer questions regarding test results, defects, and bugs.
- Participate in project status meetings and communicate testing progress, issues, risks, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
- Apply professional judgment when facilitating discussions with customers, developers, functional teams, and other project stakeholders.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the IT industry, with substantial experience in software testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies and exposure to Waterfall and Iterative SDLC models.
- Hands-on experience across the software testing lifecycle, including test planning, functional testing, regression testing, defect validation, and test execution.
- Experience with test automation, including developing and executing automated test scripts.
- Experience with defect tracking and requirements management tools; familiarity with IBM Rational Suite, ClearQuest, Requirements Pro, or Functional Test is desirable.
- Ability to interpret functional and technical architecture documentation and translate requirements into comprehensive test scenarios.
- Experience testing Java, .NET, web, SOA, and ETL-based applications, with some Java development experience preferred.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle and MS Access databases.
- Working knowledge of Unix and Windows environments.
- Experience preparing test data for varied testing scenarios and application requirements.
- Strong analytical, coordination, communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage schedules and priorities independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.
- Salary range of $77,745-$92,455, with the final offer based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
