The incumbent must be capable of designing technical solutions, creating engineering artefacts, building proof-of-concepts and solution skeletons, reviewing code, guiding development teams, and supporting governance forums.\n\nWorking alongside the Intelligent Solutions Lead, who owns solution architecture and solution design, the Engineering Lead serves as the DNA engineering authority responsible for how solutions are built, implemented, deployed, secured, and maintained.\n\nDuties & Responsibilities\nEngineering Leadership\n\n Act as the senior engineering authority across DNA.\n\n Define and maintain engineering standards, frameworks, patterns, and best practices.\n\n Provide technical leadership across automation, AI, low-code, integration, and software engineering initiatives.\n\n Serve as the technical escalation point for complex engineering challenges.\n\n Drive engineering quality, consistency, scalability, security, and maintainability across all DNA solutions.\n\nEngineering Design and Technical Assurance\n\n Translate solution designs into implementable engineering approaches.\n\n Produce and review technical designs, infrastructure designs, deployment models, and integration architectures.\n\n Ensure solutions align to enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure, and operational standards.\n\n Identify technical risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges early.\n\n Validate engineering readiness before governance and production deployment.\n\nGovernance and Engineering Readiness\n\n Support GT, architecture, security, infrastructure, and production-readiness forums.\n\n Ensure engineering artefacts are complete, accurate, and governance ready.\n\n Present and defend engineering designs when required.\n\n Review technical assumptions, non-functional requirements, and deployment approaches.\n\n Ensure that approved solutions can be successfully implemented and supported.\n\nHands-On Development and Code Review\n\n Develop proof-of-concepts, technical spikes, and reference implementations.\n\n Build reusable frameworks, components, and solution skeletons.\n\n Conduct detailed code reviews across relevant technology stacks.\n\n Guide developers on coding standards, design patterns, testing, security, and engineering best practices.\n\n Support teams in resolving complex technical and integration challenges.\n\n Maintain practical development capability to validate designs and implementation approaches.\n\nEngineering Capability and Continuous Improvement\n\n Mentor developers, automation specialists, and engineers.\n\n Promote reusable engineering patterns and assets.\n\n Drive adoption of DevOps, DevSecOps, and modern engineering practices.\n\n Improve engineering maturity across all DNA streams.\n\nDesired Experience & Qualification\nThe successful candidate must demonstrate strong practical engineering capability across multiple technologies, including:\n\n RPA (Blue Prism or equivalent)\n\n Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio)\n\n .NET and/or Java Development\n\n API and Integration Development\n\n Azure Cloud Services\n\n AI and Intelligent Automation Solutions\n\n DevOps and CI/CD Practices\n\n Infrastructure and Deployment Design\n\n Application Security and Engineering Governance\n\nThe role requires a hands-on engineer who can both build and review solutions, not solely a manager or architect.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n\nEssential\n\n Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n 8+ years' experience in software engineering, automation, systems development, or solution delivery.\n\n Experience across traditional software development and low code/automation technologies.\n\n Demonstrated experience in .NET and/or Java development.\n\n Experience producing technical design and infrastructure artefacts.\n\n Experience conducting code reviews and providing technical leadership.\n\nPreferred\n\n Banking or financial-services experience.\n\n Experience with AI, Azure, and enterprise integration solutions.\n\n Experience supporting governance and readiness.\n\nTogether, these roles provide the end-to-end capability required to take solutions from concept through architecture, engineering, governance, implementation, and production support.\n\nIn practical terms, the AI Engineering Lead should be equally comfortable reviewing a Blue Prism design, conducting a Power Apps code review, designing a deployment architecture, building a .NET or Java integration service, creating infrastructure diagrams, or guiding teams through complex engineering challenges.
