Most of our team lives within driving distance of Joinville, SC, Brazil and we meet up there regularly in person if you’d like to join.\n\nResponsibilities:\nTake 100% ownership of how things look, work and perform on our web app front-end.\n\nResearch, evangelize and enforce coding patterns and standards, extending our React-based design system which is built on top of Material UI.\n\nReview teammates’ code and inspire others to improve code quality and consistency.\n\nCommunicate with product to understand goals & vision. Negotiate which patterns to apply and chart a path to ensure goals are efficiently met.\n\nConsult with designers and recommend existing, practical patterns when they get stuck.\n\nConsult with other engineers to translate requirements, author plans & make accurate estimates.\n\nResolve differences of opinion through active listening and logic, not authority.\n\nLead projects to modernize existing (aging but bulletproof) code.\n\nLearn and stay up to date. Share knowledge and make other engineers better, including testing and adopting new artificial intelligence-driven coding techniques.\n\nRequirements:\n7+ years of commercial software engineering experience, preferably working on a business productivity app with 250+ screens and/or a widely used consumer website (millions of visitors per year).\n\nA love for UX patterns and structure. You’ve successfully set and evangelized standards in a 5+ person engineering team. It wasn’t easy, but everyone’s life was much better in the end.\n\nYou enjoy getting your hands dirty on the hard stuff. You’ve handled JavaScript nastiness more than you would like to admit. You eat cross-browser display issues for breakfast. You’ve been messing with DOM, JavaScript libraries, and frameworks for years.\n\nYou are well organized and a good communicator. You understand how to negotiate an end result, fill in the blanks, and drive it to done.\n\nPerfect English comprehension (reading and listening). Functional written English (with some help from Grammarly).\n\nNice to Have:\nFormal training in computer science\n\nAI enthusiasm. You have experience investigating, learning, adopting, and teaching others to use AI in their day-to-day coding.\n\nYou love to teach. You’d prefer to teach someone else to fish and be awesome than do stuff yourself. You have references who refer to you as “one of the most important mentors I’ve had in my career.”\n\nYou are normally the best front-end developer when you join a team. You are no longer the best front-end developer when you depart that team.\n\nVisual / Interaction Design experience. You’ve made mockups, and you enjoy doing so. Figma fluency is a plus.\n\n3+ years of hands-on experience coding in React, Vue, or another JS framework.\n\nExperience with Jest, Jasmine, Karma, or another front-end testing tool.\n\nKnowledge of how web-based MVC frameworks work (like Rails, Django)\n\nRapid prototyping experience\n\nComfort using and extending a design system. You’ve authored style guides and coding guidelines, are happy to share them, and defend them after we read them.\n\nExperience working in an environment focused on code quality and test-driven development (Unit, end-to-end testing, automation, etc.)\n\nNo fear when it comes to speaking English. A desire to improve your English communication skills.
