With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.\nOverview\nJoby is seeking an experienced aircraft maintenance leader with extensive experimental and R&D aircraft experience to serve as a Base Supervisor supporting the Joby S4 aircraft. This role is responsible for maintaining airworthiness, overseeing aircraft maintenance and inspections, and leading onsite maintenance teams during daily operations and demonstration programs.\nThe Base Supervisor will work closely with the Project Manager and the Aircraft Maintenance Program Manager to coordinate maintenance operations, logistics, and site readiness. This role will also contribute to the development of standardized processes and procedures to ensure safe, consistent, and efficient execution of flight test maintenance operations.\nThe ideal candidate is safety-driven, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced flight test environment. This position requires frequent domestic travel.\nResponsibilities\nMaintain airworthiness of assigned aircraft, including return-to-service approval during flight test operations\nManage, build, and develop a team of aircraft maintenance technicians\nWork onsite in Marina overseeing the team during the hours of 10:00am - 6:30pm Monday - Friday, plus a rotational shift on Saturdays approximately every 5 weeks\nPerform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on experimental flight test aircraft per company procedures and maintenance manuals\nPerform aircraft inspections per company procedures and maintenance manuals\nTravel domestically and internationally as required to support flight test operations and programs\nRemove and replace airframe, powerplant, and electrical components per company procedures and maintenance manuals\nComplete required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures\nPerform launch and recovery of aircraft including ground operations and observer responsibilities, as well as pre- and post-flight activities\nParticipate in Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) in accordance with company guidelines\nMaintain and operate ground support equipment\nHelp continually develop maintenance manuals and supporting documentation necessary to operate and maintain company flight test aircraft\nResponsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company\nWork in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices\nOther duties as assigned or required\nRequired\nHigh school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of mechanical and electrical experience\n1+ years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in an aviation environment\nValid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate\n5+ years experience performing maintenance and inspections on aircraft\nMust be able to work with electro-mechanical devices, high voltage power systems, and electronics equipment. Relevant training will be provided\nMust be able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents\nMust possess general working knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring equipment\nBasic computer and interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with coworkers\nMust be able to work both independently and on a team and be able to work extended hours and travel as required\nWilling to travel domestically and internationally at least 50% of the time\nValid passport with no travel restrictions\nRead and speak English proficiently\nPhysical Requirements\nMust be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day\nMust be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands\nMust be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders\nMust be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds\nDesired\nWritten and verbal communication skills\nFAA Inspection Authorization\nFamiliar with electronic aircraft maintenance management ERP systems\nFlight test maintenance experience\nSupervisory experience in aircraft maintenance environment\nAdditional Information\nCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
