With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.\nOverview\nJoby is seeking a talented electrical engineer to join our team designing all-electric aircraft and charging systems. This engineer will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional teams. You'll be taking ownership of key electrical subsystems and printed-circuit-boards from design through prototyping and to product. This is a hands-on position. Optimizing designs for reliability and efficiency will be essential. This position will be based in our San Carlos, CA location.\nResponsibilities\nCreate clear and readable schematics for digital and mixed-signal printed-circuit-boards\nComponent selection for maximum reliability and efficiency\nInvestigate modern technologies for power and data transmission/management \nWork with PCB designers to create reliable layouts\nDesign, debug, and commission complex systems with diverse elements, including mixed signal PCBs, sensors, and high voltage.\nWrite requirements, participate in DFMEAs + create and carry out test and validation plans\nRequired\nB.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline\n2+ years of working experience in relevant industry, including internships\nStrong EE fundamentals, including familiarity with:\nPower conversion (linear and switching regulators)\nSignal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)\nDiscrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)\nSchematic capture and PCB design\nExperience with component selection\nHands-on experience with building and debugging hardware\nProven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team spanning firmware to mechanical engineering to supply chain.\nGreat communication skills\nDesired\nAdvanced degree in relevant discipline \n3+ years of working experience in relevant industry \nFamiliarity with Altium Designer\nDesign-for-reliability, including use of DFMEA and fault trees\nDesigning for high EMI environments\nFamiliarity with high voltage DC and/or EV charging systems\nExposure to regulatory certification\nAdditional Information\nCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
