With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.\nOverview\nJoby is seeking a talented electrical engineer to join our team designing all-electric aircraft. This engineer will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional teams. You'll be taking ownership of key electrical subsystems and printed-circuit-boards from design through prototyping and to product. This is a hands-on position. Optimizing designs for reliability, weight, and efficiency will be a focus.\nResponsibilities\nCreate clear and readable schematics for digital and mixed-signal printed-circuit-boards\nComponent selection for minimum mass and maximum reliability\nInvestigate modern technologies for power and data transmission/management\nWork with PCB designers to create reliable and low-weight layouts\nWrite and validate requirements\nWork with system safety team to drive DFMEAs\nAuthor verification test cases and execute the test cases\nAssist with the creation, bring-up, and support of tools to support design\nDrive continual process improvements, maturing existing designs, and incorporating feedback from field use cases\nRequired\nB.S. in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline) with 2+ years of relevant industry working experience, or equivalent work experience\n\nStrong electrical engineering fundamentals, including:\nPower conversion (linear and switching regulators)\n\nDigital design and layout\n\nSignal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)\n\nDiscrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)\n\nSchematic capture and PCB design\n\nExperience with component selection\n\nHands-on experience with building and debugging hardware\n\nGreat communication skills\n\nDesired\nM.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline\n\nExperience with electric transportation\n\nExperience with high voltage DC electrical systems\n\nFamiliarity with Altium Designer\n\nExposure to regulatory certification\n\nDesign-for-reliability experience, including the use of DFMEA and fault trees\n\nAdditional Information\nCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $87,500 - $160,000/yr.
