With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.\nOverview\nThis role lives within the System Electronics Mechanical team. This team is responsible for designing the pilot inceptors, air data probe, and numerous computer assemblies across the S4, as well as mechanically designing next-generation perception suites for enabling autonomy for future aircraft. We’re seeking a passionate, hands-on, and fundamentally strong engineer to own designs from concept to certification, work cross-functionally to optimize vehicle-level solutions, and ensure the safe, lightweight, and reliable delivery of electromechanical assemblies to aircraft.\nResponsibilities\nOwn designs from concept to certification, including:\nRapid prototyping and development testing\n\nMass optimization, stress analysis, and thermal analysis\n\nTroubleshooting issues in manufacturing, testing, and in the field\n\nDriving system safety, reliability, requirements, and integration considerations\n\nDesigning for manufacturability and cost at the component and assembly levels\n\nCommunicate design risks, complex concepts, and data clearly and honestly\n\nCollaborate effectively and with humility across multiple areas of expertise\n\nRequired\nB.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant industry experience (or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience)\n\nProficiency with CAD (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) for complex surfacing, part design, and assemblies\n\nStrong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and materials science\n\nDesired\nFamiliarity with DO-160G mechanical requirements for aerospace applications\n\nFamiliarity with both low-voltage and high-voltage electromechanical designs\n\nExperience with finite element analysis (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys, SolidWorks)\n\nAdditional Information\nCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $104,800 - $181,000/yr.
