This role ensures safe operations, reliable equipment uptime, and continuous improvement across electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems. You’ll troubleshoot complex issues, develop corrective actions, and collaborate across teams to keep the plant operating at peak performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nSafety, Compliance & Housekeeping\nFollow all Johns Manville safety and environmental procedures and policies.\nAttend plant safety and training meetings as scheduled.\nFollow Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), use safe work practices, and report hazardous conditions at all times.\nWear protective clothing and equipment as required.\nDevelop JSAs for new tasks and review JSAs annually.\nEnsure compliance with all applicable company, customer, state, and local regulations, including NEC and electrical codes.\nParticipate in daily housekeeping efforts; ensure job sites are clean after each job and the maintenance shop is cleaned after every shift.\nElectrical, Instrumentation & Controls Work\nWork from electrical and mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.\nPerform electrical measurements using voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, DMMs, megohm meters, and related tools.\nLead testing, calibration, and repair of control equipment.\nEnsure repairs and calibrations meet established standards; develop calibration standards and work procedures.\nInstall, set up, and troubleshoot control devices such as weighing systems, metering pumps, thickness monitoring, vacuum systems, magnets, and more.\nSupport PID loops, process controls, and automation systems.\nPLC, HMI & Automation Support\nProvide PLC troubleshooting support and suggest logic control modifications.\nPerform PLC programming modifications and online troubleshooting.\nProvide PLC programming support for new manufacturing equipment.\nMaintain remote I/O systems and control networks.\nManage and maintain backup copies of critical PLC programs.\nSupport HMI hardware and applications; perform uploads/downloads and suggest improvements.\nUtilize HMIs as troubleshooting tools.\nProvide PLC and HMI training to maintenance personnel and operators as needed.\nAssist with writing HMI tasks into Equipment Operator SOPs.\nLeadership, Collaboration & Training\nDemonstrate the ability to train coworkers on plant systems and technologies.\nAct as a technical leader when working with cross-functional plant teams.\nDisplay flexibility toward change management and adoption of new tools and methodologies.\nAssist coworkers as directed and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.\nProvide research, development, and implementation support for standardized equipment and best practices across sites.\nLeadership Responsibilities\nThere are no direct supervisory responsibilities for this position; however, this role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to influence, train, and collaborate with employees across all plant departments.\nRequirements (Education, Skills, and Abilities)\nAssociate’s/ Bachelor’s degree.\nBS Degree preferred but not required- experience is the key.\n5+ years of practical electrical/ instrumentation/ controls experience in an industrial setting.\nHands-on experienced with programming PLCs and troubleshooting skills.\nStrong troubleshooting and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) skillsets.\nAsset reliability experience.\nKnowledge of advanced computer and SAP software.\nAbility to work with others.\nStrong commitment to safety.\nExcellent interpersonal and communications skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities and projects.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot software programs such as spreadsheets, word processing and database programs.\nProvides feedback and solutions to leadership on critical equipment issues pertaining to safety or operational capabilities.\nAfter hours support when needed.\nMinimal travel for training and projects\nPreferred Technical Skills\nIndustrial Maintenance\nAdvanced mechanical troubleshooting skills on automated and/or semi-automated manufacturing equipment.\nExperience in facilities maintenance.\nProficient knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.\nKnowledge of Lean manufacturing as it relates to root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.\nElectrical\nProficient electrical knowledge of 24V-480V AC/DC power and control systems.\nElectric motor and Motor Control Center (MCC) knowledge.\nVFDs and PLC systems\nTroubleshooting automated systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, mathematics, and electrical theory.\nNational Electrical Code (NEC) in industrial applications.\nGrounding, bonding, and sizing of grounding conductors.\nPower distribution system maintenance and code compliance.\nUse of DMMs for voltage, amperage, milliamp sourcing/sinking, resistance, and megohm testing.\nUnderstanding and application of NFPA 70E standards.\nInstrumentation\nPerform repairs and calibrations in conformance with established standards.\nDevelop calibration standards and work procedures.\nPneumatic controls and interaction with PLCs and automated machinery\nTesting, calibration, and repair of measuring, recording, indicating, and control instruments.\nExperience with pH, conductivity, analytical, flow, temperature (RTD and thermocouple), pressure, level, control valves, smart meters.\nInterpretation of schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.\nPneumatic and hydraulic equipment proficiency.\nControls & PLC\nResearch and support standardized control equipment across sites.\nCommunicate control system health and improvement opportunities.\nPID loop proficiency.\nRemote I/O and control network maintenance.\nPLC programming modifications and online troubleshooting.\nIdentification of various hardware manufacturers and models.\nHMI\nMaintain and troubleshoot HMI hardware and applications.\nPerform uploads/downloads.\nUse HMIs as troubleshooting tools.\nProvide HMI training to operators and maintenance technicians.\nNetworking\nWired and wireless network support.\nCabling installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and repair.\nNetwork switches and wireless access point support.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand for extended periods.\nAbility to safely lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds, sometimes in awkward positions.\nRepetitive use of hands (grabbing, pulling, sensing).\nAbility to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.\nAbility to work in dusty environments with wide temperature ranges (hot to cold).\nAbility to work 12- or 8-hour rotating shifts.\nAbility to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach or work above shoulder level.\nPlease Keep in Mind\nIf you do not meet 100% of these requirements, we at JM still want to hear from you.
